This isn't new material. My spouse wrote a legal brief on it a few years ago for the Commission of Fair Housing and Labor in California (the same document Rep. Leno plagiarized by modeling his document on her logic and sources and then took the credit for researching when he was a San Francisco city council member) when that commission was looking for a legal basis to include transfolk in the hate crime statute. I still have that complete document. |

That is a great commentary, thanks very very much. And I agree, completely ingenious to equate sex with religion there. |

I was fired in 2001 from a very good job when I transitioned. I didn't sue because I lacked the resources but I sometimes wonder if I should have tried. The reason given was the old saw about "losing business, (though our customers never came in contact with me), and that my terminal was, (finally), making money and they "didn't want any internal disturbances at (that) time". Our largest customer was a large corporation which prided itself on non discriminatory policies. I wrote a short email to them outlining what my company had done simply because after the third time I'd been fired for trying to transition, I didn't think they should get away with it. Whether my email was a factor or not, they didn't renew their contract. The last time that I looked, that terminal was closed. Though it took me almost seven years to get back to the level of income I had had, it turns out that they needed me more than I needed them in the end. Hopefully this sort of bald faced discrimination will no longer be tolerated but I'm not holding my breath. |

I think it is okay that Judge Robertson admitted a "boo-boo" in his ruling of 2 years ago. That's the kind of Judge that Judge James Robertson is. He admits that he isn't perfect. I base that on my own conversations with him and his law clerks. |

The Washington Post has a short article this morning about the judgment that came out 28 April. |
