That is a great article Pat. I couldn’t agree with it, and you, more. What I don’t understand is what these Leftist academics hope to gain by their infantile outbursts of anti-Americanism. Even they must understand that they would not survive under the types of regimes that they claim to support. And since they are not willing to give up any of the benefits of capitalism, I cannot believe that this is a case of self-sacrifice for the cause. So the question remains, why all of this rage against a country that has afforded them all of these freedoms and advantages. Richard Nieporent | Email | Homepage | 03.20.05 - 11:32 pm | #

They're trapped intellectually by philosophical skepticism.
In their twisted minds, there are no absolutes. There is no such thing as truth or certainty.
So, they recon that whoever is in charge, gets to decide what's right or wrong, true or false, moral or immoral.
Thus, it's all about power for them.
And fear, fear of not being in control.
It's quite sad and alarming that our universities are so fouled up. We could outlaw tenure and cut all public funds to non hard sciences, if we don't want to wait for this to play out.
But on the other hand, they are sort of herded into monolithic group than can just as easily be side stepped and ignored. AA | Email | Homepage | 03.21.05 - 12:08 am | #

Interesting thoughts. But coming from the Clinton-hating right wing, who would have voted in 2000 for a semi-retarded chimp with alzheimers instead of Clinton (in fact, they voted for Bush...point proven), JUST BECAUSE he wasn't Clinton.....
it doesn't hold alot of water for the right wing to preach about the left's "cluelessness". kramsret | Email | Homepage | 03.21.05 - 12:14 am | #

kramsret, speaking about cluelessness, I would have thought that even you should have known that Clinton couldn't run in 2000, so your comment as usual does not make any sense. However, your hatred of Bush comes through loud and clear. I would suggest that you do something about your pent up anger. It can't be good for your health. Obviously, Richard, I know that.
The fact that the right wing's Clinton hatred extended even to Gore makes my point in spades.
I always thought that righties need to do something about their anti-Clinton (now overall anti-Democrat) anger. It can't be good for their health. kramsret | Email | Homepage | 03.21.05 - 8:22 am | #

Kramsret,
If Bush is a "semi-retarded chimp with alzheimers", how did he manage to beat Gore AND Kerry?
But better yet, since I'm one of the sub-Americans who voted for him, tell me what either Gore or Kerry was "FOR" that I should have been for, just so I know what to do next time.
At least Clinton knew how to deliver a positive speech. I usually didn't believe him when he spoke because he set a track record for dishonesty, but it was still a good speech.
You're so anti-everything that I don't know what you stand for. And unfortunately for you, your candidates have been the same way. Bryan | Email | Homepage | 03.21.05 - 9:27 am | #

Excellent article. It exposes the self-contradiction of the relativists: if we can't judge, how can Bush be "the most evil man in the world?"
These people are disgusting and need to be exposed for what they are; in league with the enemy in spirit if not in fact.
Looser trolls like kramset are just upset because his buddies have been exposed. Never mind them. The Redhunter | Email | Homepage | 03.21.05 - 4:02 pm | #

yup, Kram, please explain to me, a person-of-color, as you leftist types like to call folks like me, ought to have voted for Gore or Kerry? Just becasue, you leftists know better what is good for me? Or do you just assume that I am unable to think for myself, and so, ought to folloow what you, the Great White Father tell me is good for me? wolverine | Email | Homepage | 03.21.05 - 4:43 pm | #

Along with the herd instinct of the clueless academic totalitarians and their followers is the added explanation of--may I call it--"spoiled-bratism."
Most of these elistists come from a privileged sector of society where paychecks arrive regularly because someone else has paid taxes or done the heavy lifting. Promethea | Email | Homepage | 03.22.05 - 10:22 am | #
