The real "cannon fodder" are... these gullible and unthinking automatons that continue to believe in the legends and myths of the Left.

Why Doctor, are you criticizing people who are 'gullible and unthinking automatons', or are you saying it's bad to 'continue to believe in the legends and myths'?

My, my, my. This is all too close for comfort. Without my faith in legends and myths, what have I?

And once the noble leftists have their faith shaken, will they return to the flock of god?

But which god? Muslim, or otherwise?

'Faith' as a political tool, let me introduce you to 'extinction'. You two should get on rather nicely.

I'm opposed to both. On either side of the political spectrum.

There was a time when military service was practically an obligation of the sons of the rich and powerful. (If "The Longest Day" is truthful, Teddy Roosevelt's son went out of his way to lead a unit onto the beach at Normandy.)

Then came the 1960's, and Leftists demanded that ROTC be banned from college campuses. And for good measure, they banned military recruiters. And they made sure all "right-thinking" people knew that the U.S. military was evil, and soldiers were baby killers.

They *still* maintain this attitude, and they wonder why military service is not the first choice of the sons of the wealthy.

The word is "hypocrisy".

Sorry they haven't had a new thought since about 1890 - when Fabian Socialism was new and shiny and plausible. Even my drug fogged sixties brain can see that.

What the Left probably can never imagine is that Hispanics are over-represented in the Marine Corps because they see a perfect match between traditional Hispanic values and the Marine ethic.

> How many rich kids join the military
because there hasn't been any work in their community for the last 20 years and there's no sign of things changing anytime soon?

You know, I think just MOVING to an unblighted area would strike me as a little less DRASTIC a choice...

If you REALLY have nothing, then hop on a bus and MOVE.

Pack your kids up and visit Trailways and MOVE.

I just don't see "Hey, I'll join the Army, instead" as a viable option.
