" I only hope that after the American public observes and assesses the media's behavior on this and other issues"
Believe me, the moronic behavior is being well scrutinized. The "clowns" are indeed in rare form. Rovin | Email | Homepage | 02.15.06 - 7:07 pm | #

Not too many years ago, there was no one to call the MSM to task. Today they are continually having their dirty underwear exposed, and they don't like it. It's always difficult for self-appointed demigods they have to step down off the lofty pedestal.
One of two things is, I believe, inevitable: Either the MSM will adapt to the scrutiny it now receives and evolve toward better quality, more objective in-depth reporting; or, it will fill the moat, pull up the drawbridge and subsist by throwing gross liberal spitballs from behind the ramparts. I'm taking bets on the latter. Auld Pharte | Email | Homepage | 02.15.06 - 8:11 pm | #

In Canada it is even worse. Our foreign minister actually said this in a Feb. 8 statement on the cartoons.
"This sensitive issue highlights the need for a better understanding of Islam and of Muslim communities. Respect for cultural diversity and freedom of religion is a fundamental principle in Canada. The Government of Canada will continue to promote a better understanding of Islam internationally, in partnership with Muslim communities."
Say what?
If you had substituted Christian for Muslim in the last sentence, and in partnership with the Pope and Billy Graham there would have been no end of howling "separation of church and state" when that isn't even a Canadian concept.
I'm sure our national news is running the latest Abu Ghraib photos with little concern about what rioting they might cause or how they might endanger American or Canadian troops in Afghanistan. The double standard is sickening. Deborah | Email | Homepage | 02.15.06 - 8:43 pm | #

Absolutely right. The double-standard is shocking. How can CNN possibly defend their non-display of the Danish cartoons and yet re-hash old images of Abu-Ghraib?
Simple. Both stories will enrage the radical Muslim world. However, one would direct their wrath at CNN, the other would direct their wrath at our nation, especially at our President. Its an act of self-preservation and an underhanded jab to their ideological opponent. Tom B | Email | Homepage | 02.15.06 - 10:44 pm | #

These newly published photos of PAST and PUNISHED abuse endanger our troops. I believe THIS is the point. Up that body count...more blood to throw in the faces of those in the administration. Unfortunately, that blood would come from our children, friends and colleagues who are in harms way. God have mercy on them. kelleyb | Email | Homepage | 02.16.06 - 1:19 am | #

Please don't forget that CNN programs circle the globe. I don't get CNN, but BBC World has done a bang-up job of getting these pictures out (see Judith Klingelhoffer). Today they are coupling this report with the UN HRO demand that Guantanamo be closed. Good, let's send all those prisoners to France. Its lousy prisons and tough anti-terror techniques have been condemned by a European investigation, but few in Europe hear about this. You would think that the BEEB could send at least one cameraman to the Palais de Justice. They could even pop down the street to Notre Dame to repent their hypocrisy when they finish shooting.
