All Things Beautiful TrackBack A Dangerous Precedent:

Is Europe blind or scared Sh*tless! We're facing a nuclear confrontation and all they do is have meetings or news conferences. Where is Ronald Reagan?

They should be scared. They diddled around, and let this happen; now they don't want to deal with the consequences. I agree with the doc, they very likely already have some form of nuclear weapon and are just waiting for the right time to use it. You have to ask yourself, why was the cartoon jihad jinned up at this time? Why are the riots escalating? It is building up to something....and watever it is the "insult" to Islam will be the justification.

I hate to say this --I really do-- because of the implications and consequences of what it portends, but if it happens it may be just what is needed to get disparate westerners on the same page.

Or is that too Pollyannaish? Would it instead only trigger demands for yet more capitulation and appeasement from the leftists?

That, uh, Fatwa... does it have anything to say about whether or not Allah gives permission to the nukified party to retaliat in kind?

Just wondering.

It's unfortunate that left-wingers never learned that you can't appease bullies. If you give a shoolyard bully your lunch money, he'll take it from you every day. But if you fight him and bloddy his nose, he won't bother you in the future. It's long past time when Iran gets its nose bloodied.

Another part of the problem is that the left thinks Bush is the bully, when he's not. He's the guy who is standing up to the bullies in the world!

"It's unfortunate that left-wingers never learned that you can't appease bullies."

In point of fact, only part of the problem is lefties who never learned. The other part is lefties who prefer bullies.

Doc, I've made this case elsewhere, but, no, I don't believe they have them yet, nor are they close.

The Gargoyle's possession of them is unpleasant, but not all that big a deal -- he's rational, albeit despiccable, and he knows, if he misuses them he's toast.

The Islamic terrorists are not thus encumbered. They are and act irrationally and are thus a major danger.

The "Powers That Be" know this, and, while they certainly have their flaws, "grasping in no uncertain terms dangers to their interests" is not one of them. If these weapons are misused, the average joe will suffer, but the Rich Bastards will suffer more. It is their buildings which will be rendered useless, their stocks that will plummet, their well-controlled circumstances which will be thrust into chaos. They aren't going to let that happen.

I am posting excerpts on Bubbas Bog and linking back to the full articles. Putting political rants aside, this is well reasoned, rational and very scarey.

Consider that this man - Ahmadinejad - believes that the end of the world as we know it must come before the Prophet returns. Consider that he believes that as part of the prophecy, the world must descend into chaos. If you want to be in the world when the Prophet returns, is it outside the realm of possibility that you'd be willing to give that "world chaos" a little shove? I think that he thinks he's doing his part to fulfill the prophecy. That we do not share his faith in that prophecy is not relevant to him.
I find him very logical, and very frightening.

Didn't Tom Clancy write a thriller about an elderly Iranian cleric who, knowing he doesn't have many more years to live, seeks to trigger a nuclear holocaust before he dies?

They don't need cartoon reasons anymore, they are killing people based on just "rumors".

I have seen similar attitudes in Christian End-Time Prophecy obsessors; apparently "Grinning Apocalyptism" (as Internet Monk put it) is a side effect of extreme end-of-the-world beliefs. However, Christian End Time obsessors usually don't go any farther than talk and withdrawal from the "impure" world.

Check out the essay "A Marriage Made in Hell" (re Christian pessimism and Islamic aggressiveness) over at Internet Monk's archives.

Fatwa giving Allah's blessing to nuclear strikes against Infidels, check.

Casus Belli in the form of Mortal Insult to Islam in the Mohammed Cartoons, check.

Provocateured riots from above stirring up the Faithful for what shall follow, check.

Launch orders follow, ALLAH-U AKBAR!

(And the Dems & MSM are also readying their response to the nuking: "IT'S ALL THE REPUBLICANS' FAULT! THE REPUBLICANS ARE TO BLAME! IT'S ALL THE REPUBLICANS' FAULT! THE REPUBLICANS ARE TO BLAME! IT'S ALL THE REPUBLICANS' FAULT! THE REPUBLICANS ARE TO BLAME! ...")

It's no use saying that such behavior doesn't make sense and would be irrational and suicidal.

Not irrational if you're coming from an extreme predestination belief where if you want and can do it, it must be GOD'S WILL! (i.e., God Predetermined All That Will Happen before the creation of the world and He wrote your fate on your forehead at conception; who are you to go against God's Will?)

I know Israel and the US are likely and often considered targets.

But what if they plan to nuke Baghdad, plunge Iraq into sectarian violence, and send us packing? It's not as if we can hope to accomplish anything militarily in the middle east if Iraq blows up in our faces. Then, with our politicians disgraced ("How dare they waste our soldiers on these barbarians?", one headline might go), the ideal of freedom and democracy for Arabs destroyed, we will lack the ability to do anything about them as they rampage across the middle east doing as the please. It's a possibility, don't you think?

> ...He wrote your fate on your forehead at conception; who are you to go against God's Will?

The obvious response, Ken:

Who the fuck are you (no, not YOU, silly) to imagine an insignificant bug such as YOU knows God's will?

Q.E.D. If you can't know his will, then you can't possibly go against it in any action you make. The only defense is to do what you believe to be best and with the expectation that you will be judged by it.
