I keep thinking that if being polite and gentle and overly generous with the enemy is how we're supposed to "win" - then why the heck doesn't the same people who preach this gospel (leftists) practice what they preach on Republicans?

Where are the cut and runners when it comes to GOP opposition to their cherished beliefs and positions (such as abortion)?

Pretty much says it all. I would only add that the PC cancer you refer to is contagious, spread in the halls of schools and universities, force fed to students by 'intellectuals,' a euphamism for those that have severed ties with reality.

I've seen PC described as an acid that corrodes everything it touches. I would amend that to read, everything it is *allowed* to touch. I just hope we've caught this spread of colon cancer to the brain (lol, Michael!) before it's too late.

Most of those you speak are not true intellectuals, but pseudo-intellectuals.

They talk the talk, but they don't walk the walk. Being a true intellectual requires that you pay attention to how your constructs match the real world. These mental pygmies (oop, is that PC?) can't be bothered with that part, they just want to make pretty mental pictures and swap them back and forth, and make clubs wherein they can critique each others' artwork. Unfortunately, this disassociation with reality in favor of form and color results in surrealism or worse, not in realism.

This is one reason they don't learn from their mistakes. How do you define a mistake in a surrealist picture?

Q: How many surrealists does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Two. One to hold the giraffe and the other to fill the bathtub with brightly colored machine tools.

Anyone who allows themself to even be called an "elite" or "intellectual" is a fake. It's a paint-stroke upon their artificial person, displaying a great pathology. Why anyone indulges them with these totally misleading titles is a mystery to me.

I don't particularly care if we have to pave all of Asia in glass, if such a move is necessary to preserve American civilization. The jihadists should be pissing themselves at the thought that one of their idiot brethern might actually succeed in killing a large number of Americans. It would be what it would take to convince Americans to see things my way.

The lesson of the Christian New Testament is that it gets you crucified - not what people usually want for themselves. Which is rather what is happening to the USA. People get themselves into bad situations and the negative has to be discharged somewhere. It does tend to be in the direction which is not going to hit back. In some ways, this current demonising of America may be a very warped compliment - it is taken for granted that you can handle it without blowing up the planet. The world is having a toddler tantrum. It would be an idea for the parents not to join in - no matter how tempted. There is a moral duty to do everything in ones power to treat everyone as decently as possible. There is also a duty of care to oneself. War is the ultimate failure of mankind but it is the best solution we have come up with so far for our own protection. I believe that the Geneva Convention is the code that all decent people would observe - with or without a signed contract. One crumb of comfort occurs to me - in the dead on 9/11 were Americans, Japanese, British, Germans ..all people who 50 years before had been at each others throats and were now working peaceably in the same building. Plus ca change...
