DR Sanity, I have to congratulate you for the perseverance and fortitude to attempt to listen to Ahmadinejad. Having had the experience of living under a communist system, I have learned to spare myself such torture.
What I find more appalling it is the CLOWNS who listen to the speech and then try to comment intelligently on its contents, as if that was possible, and do not seem to realize the enormous stupidity of their undertaking. I would find quoting the text of the speech and giving the reasons for no accompanying commentary whatsoever the proper way to deal with his speech at the UN. In other words I agree with you fully!

As Oriana Fallaci told Tunku Varadarajan last year, ""You cannot survive if you do not know the past."
When GW and others spoke of Islamic fascism, comparing today's gathering darkness with the rise of Hitler in the run-up to World War II, history-challenged MSM types -- presumably blinded by BDS -- scoffed. I wonder whether Brian Williams scoffed when the delusional Ahmanejad informed him “The U.S. government thinks that it’s still the period after World War II.” Sissy Willis | Email | Homepage | 09.20.06 - 10:08 am | #

Only in a world that values nothing would there not be instantaneous outrage at the lies, deceptions and self-serving tripe offered for world consumption by a man who clearly has no conscience and enjoys lying and distorting for the fun of it. How could such a man be given the world stage to spew forth his lies, let alone be feted and honored for them? How could most--if not all--of the rest of the world swallow whole the protestations of sincerity and victimhood? How could it be conveniently forgotten what his real intentions and attitudes are even for a moment as he coyly presents himself as a simple man of peace and brotherhood?
Dr. Sanity(?), I must protest your vicious attack on our President, George W. Bush. While it is true that his speeches and public utterances are filled with lies, deceptions and self-serving tripe ; and Bush is wihtout a doubt someone who clearly has no conscience and enjoys lying and distorting for the fun of it; and is constitutinally unable to do other than spew forth his lies, he IS the president of the United States and is due some deference. bob lewis | Email | Homepage | 09.20.06 - 10:35 am | #

SCOTUS didn't give Bush the 2000 election they merely upheld Florida election law from being changed ex post facto. All the MSM recounts though proved that Bush won.
He also won in 2004 - fair and square, even with the Left launching Pop-star campaigns called "Vote or Die"!
"Bush needs to be confronted." What? You mean 5 years of non-stop leftists antagonism isn't "confronted"? Michael Moore, Cindy Sheehan, and hosts of celebs calling him names - some to his face - isn't "confrontation"?

Ahmadinejad's bizarre speech was clearly directed at the dimmer bulbs in the West -- that is, the left-leaning appeasement crowd. The man has long since abandoned reality, but he understands just enough to know that if he mouths the right words (i.e. peace, brotherhood, justice, etc.) the more sluggish minds will ignore his unambiguous intention to exterminate Western democracy, starting with Israel.
The modern-day eunuchs -- Neville Chamberlain's heirs to appeasement -- are comprised of anti-Bush Democrats, and Ahmadinejad is counting on them to allow his nuclear weaponry ambitions to fully ripen.

Thank's John, from me, but if the people you are talking to haven't heard the facts yet and seen the false nature of their logic, your efforts will be to no avail, at least in getting them to see what's going on.
I'll also add, in futility, that whatever Bush won by in 2004 needs to be increased by the 500,000 popular votes he lost by in 2000.
By the rights of conventional wisdom, Bush should have lost by millions of votes in 2000. What's happening? Oh, it couldn't be the nature of the Democrat Party, could it?
The Democrats are using the wrong "conventional wisdom", even morphing into full fantasy mode to meet the Fliberal Cult and the Islamofascists. So how can they win? Are they next going to try to give terrorists the right to vote?

For those who requested some Bush lies, a favorite topic of mine, here's a smattering:
We've discovered two illegal mobile weapons labs. 5/31/03 (actually, they were trailers, and at the time, inspecters had already visited them and confirmed they were not weapons labs).
Saddam attempted to purchase uranium in Africa. (CIA warned before state of the union; Bush evades responsibiilty by saying Hadley never warned him; so either Bush is too stupid to vet his own speeches, he's negligent when making the biggest speech of the year, or he lied. Take your pick).
"Now, by the way, any time you hear the United States government talking about wiretap, it requires -- a wiretap requires a court order." 2004 campaign. Good thing the "liberal" NYT held the story showing this to be a lie until after the election.
There's probably about 10-20 more outright lies and hudreds more distortions or carefully-worded evasions, and thousands of statements about Iraq which we'll find out if the Senate ever releases its report (that was supposed to come out in 2004, but the GOP continues to play politics.) "Then there were the events that were not unreported but that nonetheless still haunt me. A 31-year-old Kuwaiti woman, Asrar Qabandi, was captured by Iraqi secret police occupying her country in 1990 for "crimes," one of which included speaking with CNN on the phone. They beat her daily for two months, forcing her father to watch. In January 1991, on the eve of the American-led offensive, they smashed her skull and tore her body apart limb by limb. A plastic bag containing her body parts was left on the doorstep of her family's home. "

'Just caught a little of Kurt Russell's "Soldier". He's human, but he's made to be, or has agreed that his nature almost completely will be that of a soldier. Yet slowly we see that he retains his humanity in the right ways.
Somehow he ends up in a strongly holy peace-nik enclave in the ruins of some city or world. Naturally, they kick him out because he is too violent - he kills the poisonous snakes there, and just doesn't fit. But, as expected, he has to return when the bad guys show up with a vastly superior force. He accepts no help from the enclave members, because "Soldiers deserve soldiers, sir."
In the midst of the battle, as Russell is getting some weaponry together, the female attraction says something like, "But there are so many of them, what will you do?" Russell looks at her for a few seconds and then says, "I'm going to kill them, sir."

Merovign,
You missed a step in your analysis . You need to add after each rebuttal the following:
Left: Name calling because they lack the intellectual capacity to rebut themselves.
It should read;
Left: Assertion1 built on lies, half-truths and dissembling.
Right: Rebuttal1 built on the available facts.
Left: Name calling and the resort to four letter words.
Left: Assertion2......
And so it goes. It is the template of intellectual dishonesty.
I have to admit I like KK, though I might disagree with parts of his logic, because he at least tries to make a reasoned argument and that is what debate between citizens is supposed to be. None of us hold all the answers nor can we ignore ideas that might have some substance. The strength of our representative democracy is that we listen, debate and attempt to come to a, though not always the correct, mutually agreed upon solution.
That cannot be said for the leftist trolls who drop by to hurl names, rhetoric that is not their own, use sophistic attempts at logic and generally make everything about them.
I would say that it would be hard to believe these people graduated from a college or university, but given the lack of true scholarship in academe and the overwhelming lean to the Left I am not suprised. When they spend four years where they never hear leftist thought, if one can call it that, challenged it stands to reason that they would be incapable of rational discussion. suek, no, Navy flying ain't grunt work--it takes brains (along with an ungodly amount of courage to do those night carrier landings in wind and rain).
I'm sure the doc would agree the medical and psych screenings on military pilots are among the most rigorous to get that coveted Flying Class I stamp. Even during the Vietnam era. Then you add the 7 years of hell he spent in the Hanoi Hilton, aquitting himself honorably despite the atrocities committed by the NV--of course hh wasn't protected by GC because we didn't have a "declared" war with the VC, so our guys were treated as criminals and terrorists--exactly as we SHOULD be treating the current crop at ClubFed, GITMO.
Mr McCain deserves our utmost respect for honorable service spent.
This doesn't mean we need to bow before his ideas. With age comes the regrets of mistakes made and I think Mr McCain is reliving his private hell when he considers the subject of interrogation.
I think Mr McCain needs a cathartic release that hasn't happened yet and is projecting his own past experiences in an attempt at denial.
In the meantime, realize his opposition to President Bush is based on deep rooted unresolved emotional issues, unlikely to be swayed by logic and reason.
We really out to be doing something about clearing out all the other cobwebs in Congress and Senate--all these Vietnam era anti-establishment types who suddenly became the establishment and can't let go.
But let's not turn on an staunch supporter of conservative values because his conscience and his regrets prevent him from seeing past his own past--otherwise we become no better than the fickle Kos-crowd turning on Joe Lieberman.

So you guys asked for one lie by Bush, and you got a bushel of them.
Kind of busted your balloon that Bush didn't lie, and is just being charged by those with BDS (BDS is the stupidest excuse Bush supporters could come up with. It's his words and actions, not BDS).
Of course, there is an excuse for each and every one of them.
Maybe Bush can plead insanity. Robert | Email | Homepage | 09.21.06 - 1:43 pm | #

It's pretty much been confirmed that Muhammad Atta met with Saddam before 9/11.
Except when it isn't AT ALL true (or confirmed).
31% of Americans think Saddam was connected to 9/11 plot.
How does something like that happen?
Are you saying Americans just aren't that bright? Robert | Email | Homepage | 09.21.06 - 1:46 pm | #

The greatest part about the obsession with Bush that folks like Robert have is that they must feel so powerless when the rest of the coutry counts off as NOT being in agreement with their insanity.

Odd, I thought the claim about Atta was that he met with Iraqi intelligence in Prague, something the Czechs still maintain it happened.
Robert wouldn't be... exagerrating things in his hyperventilating efforts to push his claims, right? Patrick Chester | Email | Homepage | 09.21.06 - 3:03 pm | #

Patrick - You are correct. As Stephen Hayes has reported,
"No fewer than five high-ranking Czech officials have publicly confirmed that Mohammed Atta, the lead September 11 hijacker, met with Ahmed Khalil Ibrahim al-Ani, an Iraqi intelligence officer working at the Iraqi embassy, in Prague five months before the hijacking. Media leaks here and in the Czech Republic have called into question whether Atta was in Prague on the key dates--between April 4 and April 11, 2001. And several high-ranking administration officials are "agnostic" as to whether the meeting took place. Still, the public position of the Czech government to this day is that it did."
The reason our intelligence services never publicly made the Atta/Saddam connection is because they could not independently corroborate the Prague meetings in April 2001. Neither could they disprove them. Considering that the nineteen hijackers had 63 separate ID's (and those are just the ones they knew about), it doesn't take much imagination to think Atta flew from the U.S. to Czechoslovakia under an unknown alias.

Lies? Hardly.
Bush thinking Harriet would be the best SCOTUS judge isn't the same thing as him lying.
Ditto with him accepting the CIA pre-war intel on WMDs... being wrong (along with the rest of the world) isn't the same thing as lying. I thought liberals were smart enough to see the distinction. Obviously not.
"We've discovered two illegal mobile weapons labs. 5/31/03 (actually, they were trailers, and at the time, inspecters had already visited them and confirmed they were not weapons labs)." NO, THEY DIDN'T CONFIRM THIS, THEY OPINED THIS. Both trailers had been bleached clear/stripped of contents. No conclusive proof either way.
"Saddam attempted to purchase uranium in Africa. (CIA warned before state of the union; Bush evades responsibiilty by saying Hadley never warned him; so either Bush is too stupid to vet his own speeches, he's negligent when making the biggest speech of the year, or he lied. Take your pick)."
NO, Bush said "British intelligence believes...." and they DID, AND DO, so that's not a lie either.
"Now, by the way, any time you hear the United States government talking about wiretap, it requires -- a wiretap requires a court order."
The question was about DOMESTIC TO DOMESTIC WIRETAPS, NOT THE NSA LISTENING TO PAKISTANI COMMUNICATIONS OR AL QAEDA CALLS FROM QATAR TO BROOKLYN... Liberals cut and paste quotes out of context all the time. John | Email | Homepage | 09.21.06 - 4:25 pm | #

>>...no, Navy flying ain't grunt work--it takes brains (along with an ungodly amount of courage to do those night carrier landings in wind and rain).>>
I think he has that same sense of superiority. Brains are good, but do they get the ditch dug? I'm just saying that from 20,000(or whatever) feet up, life has a different perspective. Not better, not worse, just different. It seems to me that he still has that different perspective. suek | Email | Homepage | 09.21.06 - 5:03 pm | #
