The democrats are simply exploiting a loophole in Democracy : government debt.
A republican congress cannot lower taxes once democrats have spent it due to intrest on the national debt, which is over 90% democrat.
The government must be prevented from loaning even a single cent, in any form. And this needs to be a constitutional amendment, not a normal law. It must be a law that superseeds government power itself. Why ? Because people need to be FORCED to pay for their fantasies NOW.
Of course, with such a rule, there isn't a snowball's chance in hell for democrats getting elected. Tom | Email | Homepage | 07.03.09 - 7:54 am | #

Doc,
I was just in a local shop, here in the nowhere middle of Germany. An older woman was swooning over yellow paper napkins imprinted with "YES WE CAN." Of course, the news she hears is that a bill to save the environment has passed. The German media will never bother to tell people that it will destroy economies and open more opportunities for corruption than anything we have ever seen. I bet the woman takes courses in art and lit in the local adult ed program. Needing to be cool is not restricted to teenagers, and Obama is apparently the local in thing.
I was so happy about my new tray table--for about 2 minutes. expat | Email | Homepage | 07.03.09 - 8:30 am | #

Still no bullets for sale at local Wal Mart, guns are almost non-existent too.
A Joe Tex song comes to mind: "Don't let your left hand know what your right hand is doing" (or something like that).
You can prattle on about Obama, but like the soldiers who are walking the walk in Afghanistan, the really big question is: "Who is making up these rules we must live within?"
The game needs to shift although it will do so only when a majority of Americans gather to say "enough is enough."
Therefore, the question begs: "What needs to happen for this wake up call to occur"? In order to realize this we should try to understand what drives these Obama's supporters to cover for him and especially why they do what they do.
Primary thoughts may be on target, but when planning a counter move you need to rate them in power and effect so that your counter efforts can succeed...if winning is the goal.
Perhaps you want Mom to teach: "Give'm enough rope and they will hang themselves!" Is this the game we are playing; our only choice?
It's costing me too much, how about you? RJ | Email | Homepage | 07.03.09 - 8:54 am | #

Exactly right, Obummer's supporters are going to entrench him if they can, as Democrats did with Franklin Roosevelt.
The Statist cover for this power grab is 'democracy', as in "the people have spoken in Venezuela and Honduras". But pure democracy has never worked. Mobs are easily manipulated and always have been, going back to ancient Greece. They create a tyranny of the majority. Republics were invented to provide a buffer and a mechanism to slow down the mob's impulses. Our Founders feared majority tyranny, knowing that only when minorities are safe will freedom survive. Our rubber stamp House and Senate is annihilating the separation of powers, and thus our whole system of government.
Honduras was our likely future in miniature, and Obummer reacted so very predictably. He sees himself in Zelaya, and can't wait to join the ranks of Chavez, Castro, and Ortega. But he has world domination in mind. You heard it here first. River | Email | Homepage | 07.03.09 - 11:31 am | #

There is still a lot of hard work that we as a country need to do. They can't look to any one individual, whether it's Barack or it's the next new hope that's going to appear to be that savior. The Toymaker | Email | Homepage | 07.03.09 - 12:25 pm | #

All of Chairman Obama's supporters who feel they can lie, cheat, or steal to make him King for life better remember one thing: If you prevent a revolution by way of the ballot box, you will guarantee a revolution with the cartridge box. It's not for nothing that many of us have been hoarding guns and ammo!

I disagree with most of the Obama administration's decisions and plans myself [saving only when they agree completely with the Bush administration's, and I didn't agree with a lot of his policies, either].
But I don't see the worry about the 22nd Amendment. We went a long time in this country without it, and the Republicans were the ones to put it in place because of FDR's 4 terms. They paid the price when enormously popular GOP Presidents had to retire after two terms.
Since repeal of an Amendment requires another one, the text of the repeal merely has to be written to apply to President Obama's successor, making it clear that Obama remains covered by the existing Constitution he swore to uphold.
With or without a repeal of Amendment 22, the only way Obama can have a second term is if we re-elect him. I have strong doubts that 75% of the states will accept a repeal amendment that gives him a third term. Lloyd | Email | Homepage | 07.03.09 - 1:49 pm | #

Firstly, welcome back to AA. And secondly, this is one of your better articles and thought the idea of rebuking the 'Do as I say, not as I do' philosophers sounds elementary and trivial, you will be astounded as to how many gullible people don't really look at the world in that fashion. No, I heard that from a number of sources, some as old as a year ago. Black victory, and a grim July Fourth.
Sarah Palin is throwing in the towel.
As I saw in West Virginia recently, miners really did have canaries in coal mines to indicate if gas levels had reached toxic levels. Well, Sarah Palin is our national canary, and the levels of unreasoning hatred and depravity are now at lethal levels.
This is a nightmare for our country. Imagine, the ancients were more generous and truly liberal than so-called 'Liberals' today!
Whether she knows it or not, Sarah is a representative of the Divine Feminine as the Greeks and Romans understood Athena and Minerva. When the day comes that the goddess is crucified, it's proof also that the Divine Masculine is absent, and has been crucified. A terrible retribution is in the offing. A retribution of blood. We are really in for it. God help us. River | Email | Homepage | 07.03.09 - 7:06 pm | #

Never happen.
Obama-love will not last the year, much less one re-election in 2012. A third-term is right out, not worth discussing.
As for a Bill third term -- Hillary would kill him first, shrieking "MY turn."

Where do I find the scientific theory (which I know exists) that past behavior IS THE BEST PREDICTOR of FUTURE BEHAVIOR?
I know this is acknowledged by the business community, somewhat in the legal system, but where do I find it is a generally accepted guideline for the Psychological community?
A speedy reply would be appreciated.
