Are you really unable to understand what is happening? The degenerate Western civilization, based as it is on man-made laws, is in its death throes. Most Western "leaders", and many common people have accepted that the future belongs to Islam. Allah's (swt) law (Sharia) will soon be fully implemented in Europe; it is at least partially implemented in Canada and is making significant inroads in the United States.

Almost all Westerners realise that further resistance is futile and that their real purpose in this life is to please Allah, who created them for that purpose. It is time for all of humanity to bow towards Mecca and praise Allah (swt).

Embrace Islam now, before it is too late for you. Let us all live in peace in submission to the will of Almighty Allah (swt).

What's disturbing (and I have not read the entire report) is that nuclear preemption is apparently not reserved for actual WMD threat. The use of nuclear force should be reserved to prevent the launch or release of the weapon, although it doesn't require that the launch or release be imminent or announced.

But the big problem with NATO is that the smaller partners are not pulling their own weight in conventional forces, greatly increasing the likelyhood that we will be forced back to the use of nuclear weapons. If you read StrategyPage.com you know that most countries in NATO rely not only on American logistics but on American combat airpower. They can't support their troops on the ground, which is becoming a major problem in Afghanistan. Nor is it clear that their troops are ready for the kind of warfare that American soldiers are seeing daily. They aren't a hollow force, nor are they paradeground soldiers. But they did not clear Fallujah, nor have most of them been clearing IEDs daily.

A further comment on the Belmont Club analysis: The danger of a rogue state like North Korea increases if it can set up shop in a failed state somewhere (like Sudan). A secret lab buried under a warehouse or garage on the edge of a city might go undetected so long as the movement of materials and people could be camouflaged. If the people live in the complex, this becomes much easier.

It's probably doable, and I suspect that our intelligence agencies have daily nightmares about it.

The West is ONLY worth preserving if the left is in power. Otherwise, they'd do anything, even at the expense of catastrophe(s), to achieve that end.

Once they are in control, first priority is to maintain the iron grip on their control, second step is eliminate any outside threat (or suspected outside threat) with pre-emptive strike. As long as they can be sure only the general public and the fools in military will suffer, while they are tucked in safe bunkers.

Not to diminish the analysis/conclusions presented in the NATO report, but consider the following: what if the apocalyptic scenario is overblown, simply because we refuse to acknowledge the reality of the threat which multiculturalism poses to our society? The other side has no need of WMDs if it can merely move in and change things from the inside without the mess.

Meanwhile, we spend our all our time searching caves in Pakistan for radiation signatures, only to wake up and find ourselves dhimmified by our continued refusal to support the proposition that our Western values are not only better, but the best value set Mankind has ever seen.

As Wretchard says, the presence of this kind of philosophical digression in what is ostensibly a strategy paper is disturbing because they seem to feel the need for such esoteric analysis. So far away from the practicalities of defence and military strategy have the intellectual elites wandered into their self absorbed worlds that these pragmatic men are forced to go back to basic principles to wake them up and reconnect them with reality. It's like trying to explain quantum physics to a grade schooler. I can just see them, when being given serious, considered strategic advice by sober patriots, their eyes rolling back in their heads and droning a Mr Mackie like "War is baad, M'kay?"
