Many of those people on the Left are people who are involved in the Arts in one form or the other. What bothers me is that they seem incapable of seeing that if we lose this war on terror that their professions will disappear over night to be replaced by government/religion approved Art. They will lose all control over their creative efforts.
Name the last great overture, painting et al that has had its impetus in radical Islamic culture?
The same is true for those who are the "media" per se. Do they real believe that they will have any control over a free press and that religion will not control everything they do? It seems to me they are trying to create the very Theocracy of which they are always trying to warn us about.
It has to be narcissism and gross naivete' that explins the disconnect between what is in their own best interest and their failure to extrapolate what they do to undermine their own lives. Do they really see their counterparts in the Arab or any Marxist/Leninist world? NO! That is why people like Arturo Sandoval, Paquito Rivera et al come here from Cuba.
Sorry, it just amazes me that the people who stand to lose the most are the mostly to support those who would destroy them.

A somewhat related tale -

One of the commenters on CQ (Captain’s Quarter) site went on and on and on about how poor those “poor palis” are. With all the world’s aid money, (and how unfair and stingy Americans to NOT give, of course), it amounted to about four US dollars every pali man, woman, and child. Of course, >90% of those aid money went into pali officials’ personal purse, and for making war. The real money spent on “real aid” is much less, however, that is another story.

So the commenter kept comparing that to the GDPs of US, Israelis, and european countries. Until I asked him/her/it the simple question: “Prey, tell what do the palistanians produce? Having your palms out for aid money is not the same as Gross Domestic Product index. Please list some of the export products that said ‘Made in Palestine’?”

That sure shut him/her/it up! Alas, not for long. The idiot came back a couple weeks later wailing the same fate of the poor palis again. At that point, I just gave up.

You may be missing the point.
The point is that the Left want to control the tax revenue and power the govt provides. They know very well that the Islaminazis will chop their heads off if they ever take over. They just don't see that as a proximate threat. Their interest now is simply gaining control of the U.S. govt and all that $$ and power. The "islamathing" they will deal with later if necessary by using you as cannon fodder if needed.

Meantime, they see YOU as the larger immediate threat to their cause as you can vote and the terrorists can't.

They need to get you out of the way first.

I agree with this in theory, even if I don't see the final outcome. Both are ruthless, and each thinks they can destroy the other - as long as they can get rid of conservatives and/or Christians. The one side believes allah tells them to kill all who are not muslim, the other side believes in no God who limits their actions...the result will be death to any they cannot control/force to submit.

Compared to the Right, the Left is mean and nasty. (O.k., compared to anybody) They are also relentless in pursuit of a goal, and have no conscience to restrain them (it's only to restrain their opponents they give the appearance of having one).

Wouldn't it be ironic if they were more likely to beat the islamists than the Conservates, who are turning out to be just too nice?

And, with the damage they would do to the country, we might not be much better off than if the Islamists had won.

You know, that may not be half bad. Let the libs into full control for two terms of Hillarycare and Reed/Pelosi. To them, it is perfectly leftgitimate to use violence to achieve their goal. For them, the end does justify the means. And, if someone uses violence, it must be because he feels so strongly about what he believes that he must be right. I.e., the violent means ALSO justifies the ends!

The Left has a long and honored tradition that persists TO THIS DAY, and is apparently sanctioned by law???!!!, of "solving" their "grievances" with a gun or a bomb.

They really aren't any different from the Islamofascists, except perhaps in degree. But, given time, I'm sure they can catch up.

I don't know why I didn't realize it before. The Dems don't see the problem, because for them it ISN'T a problem.
