The panic may only be a symptom but it is peeling back all the hypocrisy of the Left. No sooner had Palin threatened to shatter the glass ceiling that they threw up what the EEOC calls the "maternal wall." How will she care for her family, they asked. Like they care. Nice way to support women in the workplace by applying stereotyping to her ability to do the job. Discrimination if this was a hiring decision.
Oh and they like to bring up the care of a special needs child. Nice and we're sure they only meant the best. That would be a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) if this were a hiring instead of election situation.
Good thing for these attackers they aren't hiring managers or they'd be hard up against employment discrimination complaints. I guess they are only against discrimination when the discriminated against is the right kind of people. JKB | Email | Homepage | 09.11.08 - 2:11 am | #

Sarah Palin is untethered from her own needs and those of her family, which is in crisis, with a pregnant daughter, a son on the way to Iraq and a special-needs infant.
The [infantile] Left's fear of Life obviously far exceeds its fear of Death. If the Left had any "honor", it would know what to do. J. Peden | Email | Homepage | 09.11.08 - 3:32 am | #

The left has become high comedy, but then like all humorless people, they don't get it that they are the joke. If we could go back to 1970 in NYC and tell the feminists and civil rights activists that in 2008 we would have a Black Woman as Secretary of State, and a Woman Vice Presidential candidate with a very good chance of winning, they would have cheered; until we told them they would both be Republicans! > they would have cheered; until we told them they would both be Republicans!
No, I think back then, they would still have cheered. Perhaps not all of them, but enough to make their support of the idea clear.
Those are the ones who'll be voting GOP in November. O Bloody Hell | Email | Homepage | 09.11.08 - 8:15 am | #

You'd think that Sarah Palin would be a feminist's dream: Dad takes care of the kids while Mom has an exciting career. But as JKB says, this strips away the pretense of the left to any principles other than its own aggrandizement: I don't recall anyone criticizing several prominent tv newswomen for having kids and a career and Joe Biden's decision to stay in politics with two motherless small children was hailed as courageous, etc.
I'm not sure what to make of it, but I notice with Cintra Wilson and a few others, they seem to make a point of castigating Sarah Palin because she's quite attractive.
And of course, when Cintra Wilson writes about "women everywhere," what she actually means is "women everywhere who think like me, and the other women whom we will lead."
I was never much of a leftist but one reason I am no leftist at all now is I realized that ideological leftism--I don't mean ordinary center-liberalism--tends towards authoritarianism and worse because such a tendency is implicit in its premises.
However, for those of you who are connoisseurs of the unhinged left, this one is pretty good:

Oh, please. Give us a break. This analogy only proves how irrational and out of touch with reality this writer is. snoring citizen | Email | Homepage | 09.11.08 - 10:46 am | #

These people have made Feminism into a plain brown paper wrapper in which to hide socialism and if it isn't wrapped around socialism it's useless. Shoprat | Email | Homepage | 09.11.08 - 2:24 pm | #

I just ran across these two dueling opinions in the Phoenix New Times between a writer and her editor. I would have to call them Reason and Insanity but I must admit to not having professional training so perhaps I'm being harsh.
Reason: http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/2...record-proudly/
Insanity: http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/2...palin-makes-me/

"What's the difference between Sarah Palin and Barack Obama?”
“One is a well turned-out, good-looking, and let's be honest, pretty sexy piece of eye-candy.
