Some arguments just have to be played out, after which others will look back, see all the signs of the struggle, then ask why it wasn't stopped earlier. It's the nature of things, sometimes.
With the newly elected alpha male and his alpha female doing their dances, others who belong to his group come forward dancing too. Outsiders are noted and dealt with in manners befitting outsiders.
Laying far away, in hidden bushes, are new players who plan their games to become alpha males and females.
Obama et al. are really pissing off a lot of groups and many individuals. It's just a matter of time, just a matter of time. Our problem is to survive this game with as much of our heads above water and with as many belongings as we can possibly protect.
Many won't be able to make this struggle; for them it will be the Titanic.
This is the time for those filled with hate to run the show. History tells us what happens.
Yesterday I was asked to help a person prepare his newly designed fallout shelter...a first for me.
Like those old Delaware Indians used to say: "Read sign well!"
Obama is creepy, his wife creepier, his world just possibly devastating.
We elected him, as a country. Perhaps we have gotten creepy as a nation. If so, I wonder why? And how that might have happened. Or is the tail wagging the dog? RJ | Email | Homepage | 10.22.09 - 5:38 am | #

Jay Leno: "Good news from the White House. Obama's made up his mind. He's committing 40,000 more troops to the war on Fox News".
Dick Morris: "Obama's decided to hunker in the bunker, and run a one party administration against Republicans."
It's amazing how quickly Obey-me has become Richard Nixon, and the irony of Democrats behaving this way is proof of the power of Nemesis, or Karma, turning on those who have hubris.

Doc,
It seems to me that much of the world has been in denial: the Europeans about their inability to cope with unassimilated immigrants among them and about the value of unprincipled, unrealistic international organizations; the Islamic world about the reasons for its lack of achievement.
Somehow, in the midst of all this psychobabble, Bush managed to say to them, "This is reality. These are my values. I will stand for them until you folks get your act together, exit cloud cuckoo land, and decide how you want to exist in the real world." I often wished that Bush had communicated better, but in the end, he could only stand firm till others gained the courage to face reality. We saw that work in Anbar, when the locals faced the reality of OBL's brave new world of thugs and murderers. Sadly, Bush has been replaced by the great enabler of denial. expat | Email | Homepage | 10.22.09 - 7:31 am | #

> but a changing of the guard from Arabs to South Asian jihadi leaders.
Which is more dangerous than you may think, assuming a moderate Islamic (yes, moderate) cohort of mine is correct: He asserts that Arabs are collectively "dumb as a post". A few intelligent ones here and there but according to him as a whole they ain't that bright.
So we may wind up fighting Saiid's smarter evil brother instead of Saiid.

Carl over at No Oil for Pacifists has a short blurb today about The Won's shifting position on Afghanistan -- a pre-election quote, a post-inaugural quote, and an observation about his current dithering.
Worth the read.
And, as I note over there in the comments --
Afghanistan was defacto won. It needed proper handling to perform the coup de grace, but terrorist power there was ended.
I'd argue that we now see, in fact, the REAL pattern that the Vietnam War had to show us:
Won War + Democrats == Lost War
They're putting forth their "absolute bestest effort" to make sure that it all fails thanks to them.
Remember that when November next year rolls around.

Saunter on over to you tube to watch the C-Span coverage of an old alpha male gathering where former VP Cheney gives his view on our current security.
Note his voice and tone as he delivers his thoughts to a collective audience. Watch when these listeners choose to stand and clap in response to his words.
Note how this old bull tells the young bull Obama he may not be as smart nor as right as he pretends to be.
Obama loves the "Godfather" movie series. Maybe he should watch them again...perhaps with an eye to learning from the good ole boys! Michael Corleone might have built a very successful empire, however, in the end doesn't he die at his villa, alone in a chair? I doubt this was what he wanted in life.
What does Obama want in life? I suggest it is to get even...against what he believes was a terrible wrong.

Remember the Vice Presidential debates in 2000 and 2004? Cheney just took his oopnents apart with calm, firmness, facts, and sense of purpose. Bush came unraveled largely because he ignored Cheney's moral imperatives on governance, I gather from reading between the lines of what Cheney's written and said. There ought to be a thing called assertal, in which autodidacts seem compelled to lecture us about the world based on quaternary sources unencumbered by language skills, inductive logic, or extended residence in Moslem-majority countries. It could share a DSM axis with Doktor Schreber journaling his stools. pierre | Email | Homepage | 10.22.09 - 12:35 pm | #

" Problem solving and decision making will deteriorate as the entire focus of energy becomes the maintenance of the denial." You are so right, Dr.Sanity. Obama is paralyzed about Afghanistan, unable to make a decision about the troops there.
Yet Obama remains personally popular, according to the polls. Why? Because he embodies the denial. Empirical reality turns into hopeful ideology every time he speaks, reinforcing the denial and thus helping people in denial continue on in their pathological state of denial. So they love him for it.
The moral question, of course, remains. A leader of a country has no right to be in denial. He has no right to be in denial because other people depend upon him. He has sworn an oath to defend them. He MUST recognize the enemy. He cannot deny the role he has volunteered to take on. He chose to run for President, he chose to become President when he took the oath, and he is now choosing to remain President. He cannot now escape from a choice. But, of course, that is exactly what he is trying to do now as he dithers over Afghanistan.
Given what Obama is doing now, he will crack. I bet his advisors, Rahm and Axelrod, are seeing it coming, and are trying to cover Obama's inaction by attacking FOX and providing various diversions like sending him off to give campaign speeches, hoping Obama will be able to pull himself together again by engaging in familiar, safe activities. Gloria:
Has Jimmy Carter ever cracked? Bill Clinton? Bill Ayers? Stokely Carmichael? Mark Rudd? H. Rap Brown? Angela Davis? Charles Manson?
Obama might crack if he were to decide to sit in a shrink's chair for as long as the shrink says she/he should sit...maybe.
I think a more insightful question would be: If American were to see Obama get "kicked in his balls" what would this metrosexual male choose to do? (Texas G.W. Bush moved quick to kill those who brought 9/11 to us!)
Our Navy Seals, perhaps Delta too, took out some bad guys a few months ago while shooting from the fantail of a ship. Obama took credit, indirectly, yet prior to the Commanding Officer--the ship's Captain working his way through the ROEs placed upon him for this problem--gave the order to shoot these Somali pirates, Obama only ran his mouth back and forth.
When VP Cheney told Senator Leahy to go f..k himself on the Senate floor many were outraged and many were pleased beyond words.
Kick Obama in the balls hard...then tell me who he is! Also ask the Doc how hard it is to work with a narcissist, especially one she suspects is the malignant type.
Cure for these people? You've got a better shot at winning the powerball lottery!
This game is going to be played out, whether we like it or not...and I don't like it. Maybe a weirdo will take a shot on Obama, I just don't know...but it wouldn't surprise me.
These people are what Eric Hoffer called "True Believers" and they wreck things all about them on their righteous road to victory...as they define it.
Even the German citizens took years to come to terms with Hitler, why?
Keep up the good fight and fine posts, thanks for sharing! RJ | Email | Homepage | 10.22.09 - 1:50 pm | #
