Just in case some folks don't know it, the People's Republic of Ann Arbor has quite a large number of very vocal anti-development folks. They always want to use MY tax dollars to buy up vacant land just for the purpose of keeping that land vacant so they can "enjoy the view."

Whenever I meet one of those types of folks, I always ask them where they live. They usually say something like "Ann Arbor," to which I further ask, "No, I mean, do you live in house or an apartment?" They affirm that they do indeed live in a building of some kind. Then I always ask them, "Shouldn't you be living in a cave or under a tree somewhere? Because that's where you want other people to live since you don't want to let them build a building to live in." I also remind the anti-development folks that wherever they're now living used to once be a forest or a field, and that they're being hypocritical.

I don't think she'll get much effect from her open letter to spammers. But here's something to include in a Presidential platform that just might get voters excited: "If I'm elected President, I will make spamming a capital offense. To enforce this, I will enlist the forces of the FBI and CIA, to pursue and kill spammers around the globe." I'll bet if you add up the minutes every e-mail user wastes dealing with spam, these spammers are actually wasting more lives than the terrorists.
