Gravatar I read this to my wife, and she got a hoot out of it.

Gravatar It is only a show for toddlers. It's Higgleytown, not the real world. I guess you don't have children, and for that I understand why you wrote this. Today people think sports people are heroes. I have played sports all my life and it has helped me get through life. I am glad that this show, shows that everyone is important. I know the word hero is not the best word for it but it does prove that every job is important. Even the guys that take your trash. I did not like Barney before I had a child.

Gravatar That is the most rediculous thing
I have ever read about comparing a hero to a child and a hero to an adult. My 5 month old girl loves the show and I love to see how happy the show makes her. I feel I am her hero because I chance her diaper and give her food, but since I do not go to war and die or risk my life in a blazing fire, are you telling me I am not her hero? Who are you to compare people who die to a childrens show anyways? Some of the smaller heros of this world are taken for granted because they do not make very much money and people like you expect them to do the thing they do because you pay them and don't consider they are helping you because they want to, but you see these people as public servents. I trim trees around high voltage power lines. When I go out of state on a hurricane, ice storm, etc., I am a hero to most people but if I am doing routine maintance on trees, most people do not like what I do. But everyone loves to have electric.
So before you define what a hero is just because you have a higher education, take a step back and think what a hero is in other peoles eyes other than you own.

Gravatar Words mean something. If they are used to mean everything, they stop meaning anything. Heros are people who make great sacrifices for others. Ordinary, everyday acts, no matter how valuable, necessary, or honorable, are not part of the definition of "heroic." And, yes, I do have children. Otherwise I wouldn't even be watching "Higgleytown."

Gravatar You are thinking WAY too much. To my 2 and 3 year olds, our garbage man is a hero. Get off your high horse and look at life through the eyes of a kids for once. Simple message, simple story, it doesn't have to mean any more than that.

Gravatar spot on, Dr. Stat.
I am a parent, and I find this show annoying and foolish. The one that sticks with me the most - the Zamboni driver is a hero because he smooths the ice-skating rink.
The argument that it's "for kids" is not valid. The best children's programming is also entertaining to older kids and adults, and if not entertaining, then at the very least not so frustratingly idiotic. Personally, I'd like to make the squirrel into a hat.

Gravatar Seriously?? You have some serious problems. Young children LOVE this show. Are you a child? No. So don't watch it, and don't criticize it. Don't even turn Disney Channel on.
