Is the new Symax the one with the integrated sun shield and the silver ion in the lining? I have an HJC flip-up now but am looking to step up. Whatever feedback you want to share early would be appreciated. If you don't want to steal your own thunder, you could sent it to intrepidcommuter@comcast.net should you so be inclined!

I don't mind sharing early. Prior to this, I had an HJC CL-MAX which I replaced with a SY-MAX and now the SY-MAX II. A flip face is almost a must since I wear glasses all the time..
The SY-MAX II only has about 500 miles on it at this point so it is still breaking in, but the initial impression is very good.
The latch mechanism has been improved so that it is both easier to use and less likely to release during an accident as it take goo forward pressure but doesn't open with upward pressure.
The integrated sun-visor is a lovely addition, though there is a noticable difference in airflow inside the helmet when it is down versus up. Those of us with large noses (yes, me) may need to reshape the nose cut out slightly, but that's nothing a dremel can't solve.
The new interior is excellent and by far the most comfortable of the three, however, the pads are thicker, and make for a more snug fit than the prior versions, not uncomfortable, but noticeable, particularly during the break in period.
