Well also you know babies can easily make da noises, that's why it's one of the first things they say...
In Germany they think the babies are saying "that" ("Da" in German).
I think they're probably just making random noises and then when you reward them for it with affection and excitement they repeat it.
Amd Mimi don't forget your kids are a little mirror of you and mimic your every behavior... she might be reflecting your current energy rather than showing personality... just sayin. Not that there's not an outside incident that causes her to be upset in the first place, but your reactive energy (anxious & excited or calm and in control) can calm or escalate the situation...
Alright I know there's nothing more annoying than non-parents giving advice, so I'll shut up now. *slaps self*

Actually, anyone who gives unsolicited parenting advice is pretty annoying, but no harm done.
I'm pretty sure this is personality we're seeing with littleface, though. Whenever she doesn't get something she wants or she gets something she doesn't want we, she throws tantrums. Anyone can tell you that's classic Mimi right there. It's still pretty hard to see her cry, but I'm getting a lot better at not coddling her when there's been a "no-no moment".
She said "dada" right after a tantrum. Daddy came in to rescue the little princess from evil Mommy and with big ol' tears running down her cheeks, she looked up at him and said "dada" like she was gonna tattle on me. She also said it when he came home from work and scooped her up from the playpen. My degree is in cognitive studies [v@ndy-speak for ps.ycho.logy] and took many many classes in child development and child studies. All of the literature and research and everything else you learn means shit when you have kids of your own.

Yeah, you know after I posted I was like "Wait, wasn't she a psych major? I bet she knows all this shit already and I'm just chiming in without knowing the full story..." :P
So cute about the dada! Awwww!!!

i have a very smart baby, and i know all parents say that, but she REALLY is an intelligent little one. but seriously, all the books and articles you could read in a lifetime about parenting and kids and all the experience you can gain with other people's children can never prepare you for the real deal.
