Gravatar "Of course there is also a good chunk of RETARDS answering these questions without the slightest understanding of the stakes."

It's amazing to me that we've managed to get as far as we have as a country with so many people that refuse to use their brains for anything other than filling the space between their ears.

Gravatar It is amazing, but it is also true. It has been this way since the beginning of time. Only about 10% of the people do 90% of the work (if not more).

When our country became Independent, only 1/3 of the people thought it should be so. 1/3 wanted to remain British, and the others didn't even care enough to have a blasted opinion. Go figure. Yet, we have made this far.

Do you really want to know why? Because of the Mayflower Compact. Read it right here.

Gravatar Those numbers are pretty standard, the people seem to fall out into thirds by many standards, Rosemary. I think the key to survival so far, Perri, has been the one-third with justice on its side (belief in rights to life, ordered liberty, and the pursuit of truth) to get the middle, lazy third enough motivated from time to time to keep the evil third at bay! Can we keep it up?

I'm all for getting back to the sources of our thinking in founding the country--in fact that's what I do for a living these days! Check out Don Lutz's book, Colonial Origins of the American Constitution, from Liberty Fund (beautiful books and cheap)!
