Actually,I'm going to have to say I have no problem with that ad. It's good to see the fashion industry called on it's sickness.
They are semi responsible for so many young girls turning to anorexia to fit in and people ignore it.
It's pathetic.
Can we really blame the fashion industry for shaping people's opinions about beauty? Or aren't they just showing what people want to see? It's too easy to think that advertising and the movies cause people to behave stupidly--they're selling in a market, and the market IS STUPID and decadent already. Kids from broken homes, no instruction in manliness nor in femininity. Selfishness of parents and in relationships. Of course young people (and older) are confused. Anorexia seems to have a much more complicated etiology than skinny fashion models. I guess I could go along with "semi" responsible, because they do seem to have some feedback influence on the common imagination. But what does it say about the people who look to fashion mags to get any idea at all about how to look, let alone how to live!? That's my beef with the industry is that they're decadent hedonists...
