all last night, everyone time I signed onto facebook all I saw was another status update of "the king is dead" "my life will never be the same" so on and so forth. I'm not saying he didn't make an amazing contribution to the music world and he was an icon - but it made me a little bit sad for the people posting the updates. it's amazing what registers as actual news now. north korea wants to blow us up? we have the military in iraq and afghanistan and several other places? iran's killing each other? no big deal! michael jackson's dead - headline news. i'm not a cruel and heartless person at all, but i don't think that this is something that needs to be the first thing you see every time you flip up the internet. for me at least, there are more important things going on.

After following your recent posts, I think you might be interested in reading Last Journey: A Father and Son in Wartime, by Darrell Griffin Sr. His son, Staff Sergeant Darrell "Skip" Griffin Jr., was killed in action on March 21, 2007 during his third tour in Iraq. At the time of his death, Skip was writing a personal account of the war in an effort to rationalize the havoc surrounding him and his fellow soldiers.

In honor of his son, Mr. Griffin Sr. traveled to Iraq to witness for himself the lifestyle of a soldier. Combined with his son's sensitive, at times philosophical correspondence, Mr. Griffin Sr. provides a unique and intimate perspective on war that is unknown to many Americans.

Thank you and I hope you'll share my enthusiasm for this tremendous book that commemorates the life and death of a patriot.

Best regards,

Nuttier than a fruitcake is a delicate way of putting it. And I agree.

There are so many people who do so much for so little each day, who lay their lives on the line, and who don't get even 1/10 of the attention celebs do. It's really frustrating.

And NK? Thankfully that didn't come to pass. Will we be so lucky next time? That's another fruitcake just waiting to go around the bend.

Sigh

I'm not sure who is nuttier, Michael or his family. We will be hearing about custody battles and money issues for years to come. The only thing that will stop the custody battles is when the children turn 25 years old.

I loved Farrah. My idol when I was growing up.

She pretty much got lost in the Michael hoopla. That's a huge loss for all of the women out there with cancer. It was a chance to really focus on the issue. I think that's what she wanted as well, to raise awareness, to make a difference.

Maybe they'll set up a research foundation in her name, but there's no doubt that we missed an opportunity to really open the dialogue on new treatments.

New house??
Congratulations!!!
