Tell me what you think...

Gravatar Yet, the man has every right to teach, he is after all, tenured.

But...wasn't Yoo granted his tenure after returning to Berkeley? Perhaps UC should have done a more thorough review?

Though, on the other hand, having a cracker like Yoo at Berkeley really gives you a view of the the 'other' side. I mean, how can you know evil is you don't get to experience it up close?

Gravatar Hello Kvatch! The post states very clearly that he was tenured prior to taking his LOA. Yoo's disgusting ass tenured in 1999, per Dean Edley's memo .

Your right about knowing evil too. I agree that he is evil incarnate. I would hope that students take whatever he says with a grain of sea salt.

Gravatar Sorry...dusty, missed that. I had thought that there was some controversy over Yoo's tenure. Obviously not enough controversy.

Gravatar There is also the point of Academic Freedom Kvatch.

The Dean is one of the most liberal guys around..but his point about Academic Freedom rings very true as well.

Freedom of speech isn't for just liberals..its for the neocons and their ilk too.

Gravatar The real question to me is why hasn't he been prosecuted?

Gravatar I would be interested what Yoo's reputation on campus is. Do students go into his classes naively expecting a middle-of-the-roader, or do they know that they're signing on to a class with a neo-con? Is he teaching 1st semester law noobies, or 3rd year students who've got an idea of who and what the professors who instruct them are like?

And the Academic Freedom thing is spot on. If you can get rid of neo-cons, you can get rid of socialists too. Instead, make sure that those who take his classes do so with their eyes wide open to his base-line opinions (this should be true about every professor, really).
