I agree, if found guilty he should be punished to the fullest extent of the law, just like every criminal should, and he shouldn't be given any favors because he is Senator too. A criminal is a criminal, there is no favoritism in punishment.
Barack Obama's and John McCain's views are seemingly becoming more related, but there will be a difference - at least one. I think the same people who vote Democrat will vote Democrat, and the same people who vote for Republican will vote Republican. This could be one of those years were the independents will hold the deciding factor. Not only do you have a strong third-party candidate as Libertarian Bob Barr (who I personally support after dropping my support for McCain) who is polling in some states at 9%, and can possibly be a factor in some of the debates that will be coming up. Barr has a long way to go, but the impact could be huge, and it could send chilling signs to the Republican party, and to all parties out there, that there is always a possibility of a third party to rise in this nation of freedom.
But seeing that you are in Texas, John McCain does seem more the likely winner of the state, but who knows with Barack Obama's plan to turn red into blue - and with his super star power - what can really happen until the votes are tallied up and are official.

Yup. I am easily disgusted by both candidates, and neither does anything for my libertarian leaning preferences. But, the Barr vote is a spoiler vote, and I cannot go there. I resolve this by remembering that Obama vs. McCain is a false choice. The real decision is between these two government states:
A) McCain President plus a Pelosi run house with a potential 100 vote majority and a Reid or Clinton run Senate with a filibuster-proof 60-40 plurality.
- 0R -
B)Obama President plus a Pelosi run house with a potential 100 vote majority and a Reid or Clinton run Senate with a filibuster-proof 60-40 plurality.
To me it is obvious that - given those choices - there is only one way to vote to maintain any semblance of fiscal responsibility and limitations on corruption in Washington.
