The first time the price of gas really affected me was about a year ago. I have to do a lot of driving for family reasons. I need to drive a vehicle that can hold wheelchairs, IV poles, oxygen tanks and boxes of medical supplies. In other words, buying a smaller car would not be practical for me. I can honestly say that this is the first time I've had to significantly cut back on expenses in other areas because of the price of gas. This is also the first time I've had to take over driving duties because other people did not have enough money for fuel. So far, it's not as gloomy for my family as it may sound. We're very good at economizing and it doesn't need to hurt. It just means we do things differently.
