You want to talk rain, Father Daren? I'll tell you about rain....
Yesterday [the 16th, Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and the day after St. Swithun's feastday] I went to a 'mini-retreat' at the Shrine of Our Lady of Martyrs [a/k/a Shrine of the North American Martyrs] at Auriesville. It had rained off and on all day, though not while I was at the retreat (I could look out over a big picture window at the Mohawk River Valley).
But going home-oy vay! I ran smack into a driving rain and HAIL storm! The stones were only pea-sized, thank God! The rain was slashing down so hard, I had to pull into a trailer park parking lot and wait it out!
