I think the Alito story will probably recieve the most air time. I know Fox News will continue on, saying really nothing about Alito's case so they can easily not cover the Enron story to show the kind of people they represent. I think the Enron story deserves the most air time and looking that. But in most cases that probably will not happen.

Fox News sucks, I get my news from the BBC, the AP, Reuters, The Christian Science Monitor and (sometimes) CNN. I only watch Fox News when I need a good laugh.

To be honest, I don't care.
Yes, Enron was one of those corrupt business companies, but SO what!? That pretty much described 90% of the companies. So WHO THE HELL CARES!?
And the Alito confirmation, yeah well, no matter who's the judge, there's bound to be some screw ups anyway.
If I had to chose between the two, I guess it's Alito, since him being the judge will affect the nation's government in some way....

If Alito were going to get his ass filibustered, that would be worth watching.
Not only will the media hush the Enron trial, but they'll keep quiet about the corrupt Bush-Enron relationship as well.

I used to trust BBC about world news but after talking to some family members in Russia and reading what the Russian press says, it's clear that they often grossly misinterpret the news about that country or simply don't mention information that doesn't fit with their bias.
After realizing this, I've become wary of what ALL news stations say about other countries. As a general rule of thumb, the further away a news story is from the home base of the news organization, the less accurate the reporting will be...
Seriously, don't trust the news too much.

Go back to the old format!!! I hate this new way of new stuff at the top.Now on to the post.
I think the democrats should filibuster untill the enron trial is over. That way the world can see how crappy enron is and then how crappy Alito is. Also it really sucks that news channels are only covering woodruffs injuries. You don't put friends of the wounded or killed for this reason. Today (January 30th) is a big newsday they have more important things to cover.

I prefer to judge things case by case. Even the most corrupt media is more accurate on some things that are closer to home (I'm not saying that the Russian media is corrupt, BTW - from what I've seen they're not any more corrupt than the one in the US... which isn't saying much, admittedly). In particular, they often mention information that's missing from the reports you would usually read.
Many of the stories that I mentioned were also reported in very different ways by news organizations in England, France, Germany, US, Canada - depending on how the media perceived the populace was "friendly" to Russia. They simply report different information (or report one set of facts but don't mention another) based on what they think their audience wants to hear.
The most accurate source of info about a country is by talking by people who live(d) there.

Esn, the Russian government owns the Russian media. Sure, it might be factually true, but do you think that it ever questions the government?

Although they own the tv news, they do not own the print media.

In any case, the question here isn't whether the Russian media questions the government or not (it does) but whether the Western media often misreports stories about other countries. I just wanted to show that there is another side to the story that you're not seeing which is conveniently glossed over by the media over here because they only tell you what they think you want to hear about Russia.
