You know that half the kidnapping stories they make up are bull right? All they do is fill out a template, and submit to the anchormen.
As for school shootings, homicides, and rape, Fox News only reports those incidents if Bush is making a pointless generic speech to comfort the citizens of the area.
"I am deeply troubled by the (incident) that occured on (date of incident). My heart goes out to the families of the victims. I hope that this never happens again in (insert mispronounciation of state/town/city where incident took place)."

Speaking of violence, why can't Sam T make more News Flashes about current events. I'd love to see his take on the Muslim guy who got sentenced to death for converting to Christianity. And the kid who got kicked out of his baptist school for being gay, despite the fact that that school is funded by the state and therefore cannot discriminate

"Doesn't the bible say: Love your neighbor(or do non-believers not count as neighbors?)"
Assumption: Faith is inherent in all humans
Extrapolation: Those who do not have faith are not human.
Further Extrapolation: They must therefore be beasts.
Conclusion: Since humans have dominion over the beasts (a God-given right), believers (who are humans) have dominion over non-believers (who are animals).
So no, non-believers certainly do not count as neighbours.

The Bible teaches that all people are created equal -- believers or non-believers, male or female, and all variety of colors. Jesus taught to love your neighbor as yourself; but, He also took it a step further when He said, "Love your enemy, do good to those who hate you," and also, "When a person asks for your coat, give him your shirt as well. When a person asks you to walk with them one mile, walk with them two." He made it pretty clear that your neighbor is anyone regardless of what they do or believe.

Yes.. Yes... Maybe if nonchristians ask us christians to stop being bloody idiots, we will not only stop our crappy religion but we will gather in groups and philosophize on the truth about life and brainstorm and really think. Then maybe if we're lucky we'll realise our religions was skewed since the times of revisions and translations, and the gospel burnings of Constantine and his rewriting for political purposes, and so many others political

Sam,
Violence is anti-thetical to Christianity. If a christian is remaining true to the message of Jesus, they would support measures to help the Iranians maintain a peaceful and stable government. One of the premises of christianity is that the only way to conquor hate and violence is through love and peace.
Here's some info on christological pacifism put out by the methodists:

and chritianity isn't the only religion against violence. The Islam is to.
To know more about the Islam I took a Qoran and yes there it stood.
They are forbidden to spread their religion with violence as a tool
They to have to love their neighbor...

Me,
It's a little thing called "hypocrisy". They claim to have faith in order to get votes. I thought that was obvious.
Also, I never said christianity is the ONLY anti/non-violent religion. I only said that violence is anti-thetical to christianity. Yes, there are hypocrites in every walk of life and in every religion.
I don't mind if you criticize the hypocrites for being hypocrites. I DO mind when you take the hypocrites actions and extrapolate that this is representative of the entire group.

daniel - I'll completely agree with that argument as long as you also agree that (following your own line of thought) it means that Christians are not inherently more moral than non-Christians.
It may well be that you don't think this yourself, but there are many who do. This is how wars get started, after all. :P

And hey, all you had to do was say that you don't believe in one line of my argument (in that previous post). That would've been fine. I'm not saying that all or even most Christians would think that way, but some DO think that faith is inherent in all humans. I just wonder if they realize the conclusion that this leads to.

Esn,
People are people. People who call themselves christians are just as likely to be moral or immoral as people who call themselves atheists. I won't disagree with that. Christians DO have a set of guidelines for their behavior. But, just like governmental laws, there are people who break rules ... either intentionally or through ignorance.
Sorry for over-explaining. I tend to try to answer questions before they're asked. I know a lot of people who read the posts here don't have a background in Bible-study.
Sam,
Even more of a reason to not tie political affiliation to faith.

Well Sam, that's why they're called conservatives. As in: we must CONSERVE the tradition of bombing our enemies to hell instead of trying to avoid violence.
Liberals, on the other hand, are more open to suggestions, such as the possibility that gay marriage is still love, albeit against the long-establuished custom and tradition.
That's what this is all about. Tradition. The debates over gay marriage, abortion, and euthanasia would not be half as heated if it wasn't for the fact that it all waters down to whether or not tradition is wrong. In fact, many people go against what they think is right in order to uphold tradition, due to the fact that they value tradition over morale values. If Abraham Lincoln had the point of view that many people in today's world have adopted, slavery would still be legal. That wouldn't change the fact that it was wrong, but it would still be a tradition, as it had been in our society ever since the Colonies were founded.

unfortunately in our country intolerance has been part of tradition. This country has adopted many of the qualities of Ancient Rome, and since Constantine was a prominent figure in the history of Rome, we have taken many of his intolerant policies and altered them to be slightly more civilized. One example was that Constantine had homosexuality be punished by death, while we make that policy slightly more civilized by having the mainstream shun homosexuals, if to do nothing but uphold that tradition.

Daniel,
Tying Christianity in with politics when the majority of Bush followers are Christian and the majority of the other end have their own beliefs, is done rightfully so. Obviously there are good Christians, but if tying Christianity into politics was reason for people to vote for Bush, well theres where you have the problem and thats where the critisizm comes from.

Zatheist,
According to this fascinating article:
http://www.publiceye.org/
magazin...mographics.html
The statement, "The majority of Bush followers are Christian" is incorrect. Evangelical christians DID make up a large part of his constituency (about 40%) -- but, 40% is not a majority.
daniel |

majority is not nessecarily more then half. If Bush's voters were (this is just an example) 40% Christian, 30% Jewish, and 30% Muslim, then the majority of voters would be christianity. While the term majority is used in a contest between two options, the majority of votes in a contest of three options would be (according to dictionary.com)The political party, group, or faction having the most power by virtue of its larger representation or electoral strength. Simply put, Since Christianity (40%) makes up a larger portion then either of the other two (both thirty percent), Christianity is techincally the majority.
However, it could be 40% Christianity, 50% Jewish, and 10% Muslim, so I'll gladly retract this statement if you give me data to that effect.

IHATESPAM,
By that definition, it is equally true that "a majority of Bush followers are non-evangelical-christians".
I suppose we're both right depending on the definition of "majority" we use. Let's just be accurate and say they make up 40%, shall we?
