This is news now? We still have a Republican-controlled Congress until at least the mid-term elections, and who do Republicans favor? Corporations, of course. They aren't going to suddenly turn around and do something those corporations don't like, or they'll risk campaign contributions. It's a dumb move for everyone involved (including them, eventually), but from a political view it makes perfect sense.

Might I say, me coming from Australia, that this is the most stupidist thing ever! The internet is a global thing (despite people saying otherwise). Unless this is discussed in a more global enviroment (not possible), this SHOULD NOT ALLOWED, as this will also affect countries who have no say in this and/or may not know of this bullsh*t (Australia, UK, Japan etc.)
I reacted too soon. After reading a FAQ about the subject I can now say...AHAHAHAHAH!! I knew America was screwed, but YOU'RE F***ED!! AHAHAHAHAH!! ha

Zathiest, I think that might be one of the reasons they want this to go through. Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but without free access to the internet it'll make it that much easier for corporations to control the media, and thus information. If no one knows about something, how are they going to stop it?

As an Internet user and citizen of Pennsylvania, I am urging you to vote against a bill that would turn the Internet into a corporate tool. The Internet is a valuable tool used for the spreading of information. You may have noticed that countries, for instance China, do not have a free media. Voting for any bill that limits Internet freedom will bring America one-step closer to becoming a tyranny. Besides this fact the bill is unconstitutional since the Internet is all about free speech. An added bonus is that everyone from the Christian Coalition to Moveon.org is in favor of a free Internet. Keeping net neutrality is the right thing to do because you represent the voters and the voters clearly want net neutrality.

Why is this McCain guy seen by so many as some sort of great hope anyway? The man is a Republican. Sure he doesn't like the religious right, but God! If you are republican, I think Bush proves that your mantra's (Such as limit government, careful use of finances and such) are entirely dead. And if you are a democrat why would you be at all interested in McCain.
And if you are one of those libertarians. Just decide wether your economic views are more important to you (in which case you don't have a party anymore. Since Bush and the reps don't stand for it and the libertarian party is a joke.) Or your individual freedom views. (In which case you should, out of practical concerns, just vote Democrat. Who are the closests you are going to get and who are most likely to have people sharing those views.)
Really... McCain is irrelevant. If you really want the Bush times to truly and fully end, forget the Reps and vote Democrat when the next opportunity comes! Lets face it, the US is a bipartisan country and you got two choices. Bush's party (which might very well mean more of the stuff you hate about Bush.) and the Democrats. This if you hate Bush and his goons, you only have one choice to vote really. And thats far more realistic then to cling to some magic republican who will supposedly fix the party singlehandedly.
Of course I know some might like Bush and like heading towards bankruptcy and USSR style economic collapse. (And for that matter Banana Republic style economy) But THEY can just keep voting for the Republicans.
Everyone else. DON'T.

its just that for the longest time mccain has been the only republican i've had faith in, and i though he might do what he knew was right. but once again im disappointed, and he's voting against neutrality.
