Ohhhh...Sam doing the Halloween movie reviews. Nice!

1982... the only memorable things were the Falklands War and the "Tylenol Crisis", which led to that stupid "tamper-proof" packaging that no one can open.

I just so happened to watch Poltergeist on TV. It's a rather impressive feat considering that the movie actually had a plot and good acting (compared to modern horror standards). A long time ago, like in the Hitchcock/Twilight Zone days, people actually used drama instead of CG zombies to generate fear. Weird!

Zntrip, do you have an informative link on the Tylenol crisis?

I heard about the Tylenol crisis on an episode of "I Love The 80's" on VH1. There's a Wikipedia article about it too: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Tyl..._Crisis_of_1982

Thanks for the info! Wow, that's freaky. Basically, some freak put cyanide into those gel caps and no one could tell they were tampered with. The killer got 7 people.

I often work with potassium ferricyanide, which is harmless unless you eat it and it mixes with your stomach acid (see below).

I think I told you guys a while ago that a coworker once told me to clean up a ferricyanide stain on an instrument with acid. This would have liberated the cyanide groups, which could have dissolved straight through my skin and killed me. Yay! I'm glad I no longer work with that person or my former employer.

I take it that your a chemist or something.

Applied environmental scientist.

You'd be surprised how many hats you get to wear while working on energy projects.

Cool! Have you ever had to travel to other countries for said "energy projects" and wear funny hats?
