I'm always up for a good retelling of a bible story, but you added something so fundamentally important that is completely missing from modern bibles:

"Please keep this book up-to-date!"

It should be printed in large point bold font on every religious text printed in the world. I think that could solve a lot of problems, not to mention leave us with more fulfilling spiritual lives.
