One of the nicer things Ayn Rand used to call people like that was looter. When she was really cooking off she would call them cannibals.
One of the things that apologists for the Confederate cause like to point out is that the majority of federal revenue in 1860 (through tariffs) was paid for by the southern states while the bulk of federal spending (pork) was targeted to the northern states.
No Republican voted for the pork laden spending bill and 11 Blue Dog Conservative democrats joined 'em.
It will be interesting to see if the Senate Republicans have the backbone the House Republicans did when it comes to a vote.
