An Econoclectic Perspective

I was one of the individuals who chose to convocate a day early. My decision was made in part to protest the decision of the university to confer this degree.
2 points:
- The convocation ceremony on the morning of the 16th was the only ceremony for which tickets were limited to 2 per person. Thus, it is quite possible that graduands who were indifferent about the honorary degree recipient would have still preferred to graduate on a different day.
- Not every student who was to graduate at the Morgentaler ceremony was offered an option to switch days. While it may be true that most were contacted, the option to switch in many cases was only offered if the student indicated that they would not be attending the convocation because of Morgentaler (or if they otherwise made a big stink). Importantly, many students (myself included) were not informed at this point that they would be limited to 2 seats for guests (even though several had already received extra tickets and invited extra guests).
