Yes, we all knew something like this could happen. There've been documentaries (can't remember which networks, probably Discovery, Nat. Geo., or PBS... or all of the above).

But I have to ask if a large scale plan called Coast _2050_ developed in 1998 would have saved the city. More likely, any work they would have started would have been washed away.
