What's the deal with Peter's dad, Irving Schiff?

Isn't he doing a stint for tax evasion? And hasn't he been in and out of the pokey over the years for tax protesting?

I wonder how that influences Peter and what the dynamic of their relation is to Peter's work?

Anybody here have any insights about this?
