Black Tennis Pro's

Gravatar Well, I hope she does the right thing and rests the knee. There are plenty of other tournaments in the future, not to mention the fact that the US Open is not too far off.
I'm happy to see her hitting her stride with these recent wins and also the elevation of her game, but she needs to learn when to cool it when these injuries pop up.

Gravatar Shelia she needs to listen to the experts on this because she don't want to do any more damage. Don't they play the US Open around Labor Day?

Gravatar I think Serena's taking a big risk. That knee hasn't healed properly (poor rehabbing?)since she had surgery on it in 2004. It seems to be an odd decision with the Olympics and the USO coming up. I hope she reconsiders.

Gravatar I hope she doesn't play. I'd hate to see her have a permanent or career ending injury. It's just too risky.

Gravatar I was really shocked to even see her name still in the draw. I usually think players drop out of tournaments way too much, but this one would have been a good one for her to skip. I hope she holds up OK.

Gravatar I dont see what she has to prove with this tournament? At this point she should just take the rest of the year off and get better. Why risk ending your career out right?

The WTA's Chief Executive Larry Scott needs to start changing policy and taking a hard look at how these players are treated.

I understand that you want to maximize the sport by having the star players appear in as many tournaments as possible but at what cost?

Say if the Williams and Davenport cant play for the rest of the year, from an American perspective, than what?

Gravatar Not to mention they all play the Olympics though the US Open would be my concern.

She needs to lay off that knee.

Gravatar Well Everyone, you'll be happy to know that cooler heads have prevailed and Serena has withdrawn from the East West Bank Classic AGAIN!

As I know all of you are, I'm very glad that she made this decision. It's just not worth the drama risking the Olympics and the U.S. Open.

And driving us crazy!

Gravatar She seems to know what's best for her. I just hope it's the right decision.

Gravatar I am very surprised at her choice to play injured. I just hope she does not do any career ending permanent damage, or put herself in a situation, where she will have to deal with nagging permanent excruciating physical pain. Hoping the outcome it good for her.
