The sad thing is that with the necessary therapy, this woman could have possibly had a happy life. It's clear that no one cared enough about her feelings to help her find her way in the world. I feel sorry for her, despite her evil crimes.

She was trying to do the right thing, twisted as it is. Most people suffering from abuse as children continue the cycle by dumping the pain onto their own children. She wanted the cycle of abuse and sadness to stop, so this was her way of ending it.

This woman is probably crazy, and it is a shame- that being said, sometimes, as a society, we must confront and eradicate evil without second guessing ourselves. Maybe with therapy at one point she could have been prevented from becoming a monster, but the past cannot be altered and this does not mitigate the evil that has been done. Dead is dead for the innocent child. I cannot believe, nor can I accept, the impulse that many have to excuse the most heinous behavior with a lot of "If only...."

I am standing here with tears in my eyes looking out my kitchen window at my two small children. How could anyone do such a thing...how could any MOTHER do such a horrific thing? I will never understand it, I don't want to understand it...I don't even think God understands it.
