I linked to this. It comes under the heading of "incongruous small thinggs that make me tired". Why couldn't stuff like this be done at sheltered workshops for people that just need a chance to be useful?

Why? Why do we cuddle up to China?
1. Because Daddy Bush did a stint there, so it's a family tradition to be confused about how to handle them-- not to give any excuses to Clinton or Reagan about China, either....

2. So we can keep up the flow of cheap goods to encourage the continued flowering of the consumer society.

3. Because we like to pretend that Saddam Hussein is the ONLY person who has committed crimes against his own people. We only go take out tyrants that we can obviously beat-- not ones with armies of zillions.
