The Education Wonks

Gravatar Was it a pun that he was *stripped* of his professorship?

I'm sorry. Joking is the only way I can handle stories like this--without hurting someone, that is.

Gravatar I don't understand why he was teaching, given that he's emeritus, and I really don't understand why he was teaching, given that he'd already been arrested for this twice.

Too little, too late, I think.

Gravatar Here's the point: Until we accept the fact tat monsters like this DON'T offend juct once, and that therefore, they deserve a long sentence to protect society from them for a first offense, we really do not take protecting our children seriously in this country.

States have turned to trying to lock these people up involuntarily after they finish sentences in prison. This is not the answer. The answer is simple: the original sentence should be as long as their victims will suffer the effects of what was done to them. (And that's a lot more than six months to three years.)
