Thank you for ths entry!! My younger son who does not have a gpa anywhere near as wonderful as teenwonk has been getting this mail. Now I know where it came from...must have been from his middle schools teachers and now he keeps getting it in high school. Ugh!!

Thanks for the more info.

I suspected these of a scam when I received letters from them my first year of teaching. I gave them to my students to whom they were addressed and said "they just want you to buy the book, but it might help your scholarship application."

Now I throw them away.

And it's not just students who fall for this. There's a who's who among America's teachers book as well.
