The Education Wonks

I don't get it. Is that a warning or a motivator?

We didn't get it either.

Gravatar I would hope that I would be judged by "meeting the students' needs." This would be interesting to bring up at a faculty meeting for open discussion.

Gravatar Heck, I have not been a school classroom in a while, and I am puzzled as well. Is that meant to somehow "scare you straight"?

Gravatar What do you all mean, that you don't get it? If the kids fail or there is a large group of kids getting failing grades in the room, then baby! you are going to be hauled in and whippersnapped until you can't see straight and then fired!!!! I get it!

Gravatar After far too many years in a college classroom trying to teach the most disruptive, willfully ignorant man-children and woman-children I have ever encountered, I have but one nugget of wisdom that many administrators miss:

Any attempt at education requires both a teacher and a student; when one or both goes AWOL, then it's virtually impossible for education to happen.

Blaming the teacher for the failure of the student misses the important [and critical] participation of active, engaged students in their own education. To lay blame on one side or the other without an impartial, reasonable scrutiny is ludicrous and one of the biggest crimes against education experienced today.

Maybe this administrative missive needs to be given to the students as well.
