Like any other imperialist nation, the U.S. administration underestimates the depth of hatred for U.S. foreign policy and the American populace (for the most part) underestimate the derision with which they are viewed for being so ignorant of their governments actions.
Cheney's popularity is around 10% now? Bush is barely clearing 30%. At times like this, I wish to god we had a Parliamentary system!
Actually, Amal, a great many of us do know that we are derided by the world. We are ignorant of some of our government's actions because they are secretive scoundrals. Please do not confuse the American "populace" with the usurpers in the White House. We did not put them there and have not figured out how to get rid of them, but we will.
Trilby, I did qualify the statement with "for the most part".
I know that not all of you voted the cabal in but those who did are fully responsible for the mess we are all in.
And we all get to pay for the big mess, too.
