I find these stories about sushi and mercury very strange. Why is sushi being singled out? AFAIK, cooking fish doesn't reduce its mercury content. The vast majority of tuna consumed in this country is canned and would seem to have the same mercury content as the sushi that's being targeted. Am I missing something here?

Gravatar Correct. I eat sushi made with eggs, for example. I was pretty angry with the headlines, too. This is why I wrote the article here. To make distinctions.

And yes, cooking doesn't change the chemical contents of the thing being cooked in these cases.

Gravatar uh-uh. Well, there's always Macaroni and Cheese on Fridays.

Unless it's Kraft Macroni and Cheese...except...there IS no cheese in there. Kraft was forced to take the 'real cheese' logo off the box because there is no cheese in the box at all. There is in fact practically no FOOD in the box. It should be called Kraft Macaroni and chemicals.
