Gravatar 12 lbs in 2 weeks? Yikes! Sounds like my recent 8lbs in one week nightmare. I have the slowest metabolism known to man and know where I went wrong though. The instant I stray from my diet or take the easy road with my workouts (i.e. decide to hop on the elliptical and read Glamour rather than sweat through a grueling Spin class) the pounds start creeping on.

There's a book and a website that really helped the last time I started mysteriously gaining weight: "Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle" at www.burnthefat.com. The name is really cheesy but I was surprised at the amount that I learned from it. And that's a big statement because as a self-proclaimed professional dieter, I thought I knew everything. I mean, honestly, I could tell you the amount of calories in dust! One key thing I learned from the book: eating protein sparks a 30% boost in your metabolism, so even though the book doesn't advocate a high-protein diet, it explains why if you're eating a lot of low-calorie carbs you still might not be losing weight. Okay-- time to do some work so I can hit the gym during lunch today. I'm putting myself through the 12:15 Spin cycle- 8 lbs be damned!!
