Gravatar I think you are exactly right - the children need to learn to make healthy choices and taking something away during school hours isn't going to make that big of a difference...especially if they can still get these things at home or the convenience store down the street. Education, education, education. I haven't had a full-sugar soda since in like 11 years and I'm still overweight. It wasn't about the soda, it was about a myriad of unhealthy choices. And don't get me started on taking phys ed out of the schools! I can't believe that shit...just as I can't believe they've taken art and other fine arts out. Scares me.

Gravatar Tough call. I sort of think that healthier things should be offered at schools, but it really is all about choices -- and making the right ones. So I guess while it might help a bit, the kids are going to get fat no matter what, if they aren't making good decisions outside of school (or if they're bringing full-calorie soda into school in their lunch bags...if kids still have lunch bags).

Gravatar Soul Searching - I totally agree with you. I don't think that full-calorie sodas are the problem. America needs a change in mentality when it comes to eating.

Sandra - It is defintely a tough call. And I never thought about kids bringing sodas in their lunch bags. I don't know if kids have lunch bags. I sued to have a Rainbow Brite one. Ahhh, memories...

Gravatar Rainbow frickin Brite!!!! I love it!!!
