As much as it pains me to say something nice to you, Retardo...Good post. I recently read Savage Wars and although I disagree with most of Boot's policy ideas (obviously), I think he offers a fascinating look at some of the military interventionist arguments that have swayed not only the NeoCons but also quite a few on the Left. Although I believe he reached mostly wrong conclusions, I have to give Boot some credit for seeking parallels in our forgotten small wars.

Pete you're giving me more blackmail material. I'm telling Seb that you complimented me!
Man, I hate Boot with a passion, precisely because of this book. Why couldn't he be like other neocons and just not give a shit about history? Nah, he had to go back and rewrite it so that he could say, "don't complain about Iraq, we've *always* been murderous fucks! and we did it for PEACE."

To me that's part of what makes the book so fascinating. So few people are going back to look at the fact that we've done this military intervention stuff time and time again (with decidedly mixed results). These actions provide such a vital source of information for today's conflicts. Where Boot gets it wrong (well, one of the places), in my opinion, is that he ascribes really naive motives (or maybe he's simply being deceitful) to America in the process.
And don't worry...From here on out, it's all insults, baby!
