Gravatar I agree with this quote to a degree. I am totally against the idea that fair has any place in reality. Things are what they are. Favoritism and even nepotism are just human nature. Laws are put into place to protect someone against this but laws are broken as long as everyone is quiet.

I agree that the system doesn't work, but maybe not in the same way the author of the quote does. Philanthropy is the best form of public help. I know most people with the means don't offer to help, but being forced to help is wrong to the person who may not have the means.

Without government programs my paycheck wouldn't get devoured each week. I could decide what I wanted to do with that extra money and probably put it away for retirement or invest it. But no people have admitted they aren't smart enough and don't trust themselves so they would rather the goverment do that. So yay social security.

On the other hand there are people who have reasons beyond their control that need government assistance to help feed, clothe, and shelter them and their families.

I don't believe every success is deserved and every failure is deserved. But I do know all I did was put in an application to the place I work. I didn't invent anything of value, I didn't create anything that people want to buy, on my own intention.

The idea of entitlement alot of people have these days astonishes me. A persons parents gave birth to them. They have a, I guess, moral obligation to take care of their child til the age of reason.

Rich people do often say people make their own luck. But then again middle class and lower class people call rich people lucky. I believe luck has little to do with it. I didn't get to the place I am by luck. I have worked hard and suffered much. I am not rich, but I get what I want when I want, and I do what I want on my 3 day weekends.
