In developing a business, I have noted the real estate prices in certain metro areas. Inescapable conclustions- in regions where real estate prices are ridiculously inflated, notions about life are also wildly expanded. Meaning- metro DC, SF, LA, Seattle, NYC, Boston. Where elite parents scrap to get their crumbcrunchers in The Right Schools. Heaven forbid their progeny would share classroom space in public schools- where they are more than happy to mess up. Where they might actually encounter- horrors- poor black children. Real estate prices tell the story. Inflated mortgages = fanatic pursuit of The Good Life- at least that preached in glossy magazines and Dead Tree Journals they barely glance on Sundays. In our local Dead Tree Journal today, a glowing tribute to one of the womynpriests 'ordained' on that Good Ship Lollypop off Pittsburgh last week. Who 'celebrated' her first 'Mass' at a Methodist Church. Noting that Mother- FatherMother? Ma? Hey You?- is a full-time nurse at one of our more dysfunctional public high schools. But who sends her male offspring to one of our elite boys' Catholic academies- a virtual pipeline to fancy centers of elite learning. Do as I say, not as I do, is the message.
