Exercise Before Knitting

Gravatar The only cure I would suggest for man-sock boredom is to knit them on thicker yarn. I knit most of my socks on US1s, but my husband only gets sport weight socks on US3s. I am starting a pair in Mountain Colors Bearfoot that are going to be uber manly, I hope. I also do a simple garter rib on his socks, since he considers most patterns too girly.

Gravatar What an incredibly cheerful color that is--and I love how it pops against the green in the book!

I'd recommend Knitpicks Gloss for man socks--very manly solids there, and the yarn's a total pleasure to work with. I'll go tell Theresa too!

Gravatar Very pretty socks!

Gravatar Those socks look wonderful!

Good luck with the exams - see you on the other side. oh, and thanks for the heads up on the contest

Gravatar ohhh your sock looks fabulous! The plain yarn makes the pattern really pop!

Gravatar Oh wow! What a gorgeous blog! I'm so glad you found me. Your socks are beautiful - gotta love that red!

(I've added you to my bloglines and will drop by regularly.)

Gravatar Those are going to be some nice looking socks!!!

Gravatar Ick - I remember O-Chem....good luck!!

The socks are BEAUTIFUL! I can see the striping! I think the bright solids make this pattern really sing.

Lucky for me, my hubby will, as he said, "wear any socks you knit for me" regardless of color!

Gravatar Thanks for the help. You know I'll be compliling a list when all the responses are in!

Gravatar Oooh, what a pretty sock. I can see the striping in the heel... what fun! As for men's socks, they are big, they are usually boring, but if they love them, sometimes it's worth it (especially in DK weight)!

Gravatar Good luck with the exam!

The sock is very beautiful.

Gravatar The sock looks fabulous. That is a delicious color!
Good luck on your exams!

Gravatar thanks elinor! i'm glad to have my little peanut at home now.

loving the socks! that's always been one pattern i've wanted to try.

Gravatar those are looking beautiful, elinor - i really must get a copy of vintage socks. how cool that you're also in planning! my brother is as well - he is just finishing his master's program in planning this semester (we didn't do that on purpose, i promise!). at work i've been focusing on affordable housing development and finance, which is what i'd like to continue studying - but who knows, i might just change my mind once i start the program! i'm particularly interested in low-income homeownership issues (as i'm sure you've seen, the mortgage crisis has been in the news a lot lately, but we've been working on that issue for a while now at my office and it is of real importance to me). what are you studying within the field? ~gabriella

Gravatar More gorgeous sock pics, I can't get enough. Those look fabulous! I'm thinking I may have to pull out some lorna's laces I've got sitting around. ABSOLUTELY going to have to go get that book now.

Gravatar The sock is looking gorgeous. Good luck with your exam preparation!

Gravatar Better patterns (or at least, more interesting) for "men socks". I agree, and look forward to the contest results.

As for the school stress, I wish you all the best with the exams, and know that it'll be over soon--

Gravatar Those socks are so beautiful. I am always tempted to buy that book just for that pattern. I love it. Gorgeous yarn too.

Gravatar I love the LL almost solid colors and how the stripes can just barely be seen. You did a great job capturing the yarn in your photos. The sock is beautiful too.
My newest sock is from Knitting Vintage Socks but I can't say which one it is yet.
