Nah, I like the sock! And yes, the knit picks sweaters DO look like potato sacks. Sad, just sad.

I like the stripes, but then I like stipes. The pooling could be much worse, I 'spose.
I haven't seent he knit picks catalog but I've noticed a potato sack trend in fashion lately - at least over here in Europe. I imagine anyone living near an H&M could go check out the euro sacks in action, in all their loud 70s pattern glory. Ick.

Ok Cranky Pants, those socks are cool! They have a mind of their own I guess. I love that they stripe AND pool. That's groovy. As for KnitPicks, my expectations have always been low. I think I am too used to potato sacks.

Gotta say - I like 'em. But I'm a stripey sock kinda gal, even if the stripes don't match precisely. I'm in the minority on that one, I know.

Count me among those who like a stripey or patterned yarn for a simple sock. It's just the thing for knitting while reading blogs. And your leftovers will make really cute socks for Beatrix.

Well I'm weird enough that I have liked the grapefruit yarn from the moment I saw it....and it is even better knit up - so that disclaimer sure wasn't for me!!

I like the socks but I can see where they would trouble you.
YES... the KP catalogs kill me. My husband once recycled mine before I got to look at it and I had to repremand him over it since I need to look at them & see how bad the sweaters are!

Those are bright but I do like them. I agree - I do like solid sock yarn colors better than the variegate ones.

I agree about KP! They have some decent yarn and sell some decent patterns, but sometimes they combine the two in a way that just does not do the patterns any favours! Like knitting the Mason-Dixon nightie in a ::worsted:: instead of a sport-weight like in the book? Ick!
I have to say though, that their few pages with lace patterns made me tempted to start some lace. I am quickly being worn down on that front.

I like those sock colors, and agree on Knit Picks. You would think that if they were savvy enough to design the Knit Picks Options needles, which demonstrated a clear understanding of what product was missing from their target market - so why can't they find some attractive sweaters to showcase their yarns?

stripes are better than pooling, but that is some weird striping! and green??? weird....(hence why I now only have solid colors in my sock stash!)

i'm all about crazy stripes and bright colors, so i love the socks.
Knitpicks hasn't impressed me in a long time. their yarns may be cheap, but in my experience, they skimp on weight, the colors that a lot of the yarns come in are "eh" and their catalogs, i agree, are dull.

An additional thought on Knitpicks catalogues: the models look TERRIBLE. Not as bad as many of those on the Elann site (has anyone else noted the photos of women wearing shawls while standing near boats in a sunny marina and been slightly disturbed?), but pretty bad. Granted, I like the fact that the models are various sizes and ages, but there are ways to make all sorts of sizes and ages look good in a photo. LIGHTING. MAKEUP. BACKDROP. A little Rowan sensibility (without all the pouting, often pantless lasses and their effeminate male companions) would not hurt.

I do love the colors of your socks & pooling is a problem with handpainted yarn. So far, I only have it once on my Jaywalkers. Thank you for your nice comment on my blog.

Hmm, I must be missing something because I think the socks look fine!
Totally agree re: KnitPicks. Shouldn't they have enough profit to hire a good art director? I think they should get a better color consultant on their yarn colors too.

Oh, nonsense--the socks look great! But I totally agree with you on the Knitpicks catalog. Seriously--they can hire me as a stylist! I'd do a great job! I have to say that I do like that their models are real people though. I don't care how a sweater's going to look on some willowy little twig, because I'm not one.

I'd have to say I love the fact that Knitpicks exists. If there is a way for them to improve the pretty pics in their mags, then fine-- but I'm just there for the cheap yarn. I skip the front pages and go for the colour cards!

I kinda like the socks too.
As for KP, last year when the Telemark sweater made its debut I was instantly smitten. It looked great on the model and the photography was lovely. Then all of a sudden, the original photo was nowhere to be seen and a new photo with a different model appeared and it was horrid. Not quite potato sack but almost made me regret buying the yarn/pattern. I'm not sure what they were thinking...

I think the socks are cheerful in a funky sorta way. I'd wear them.
I agree about the Knitpicks catelogue. They need to hire better designers. Not only are many of the styles amaturish, they are poorly finished with curling edges and such.
