Being an assistant leader of a group of 11-year old Boy Scouts, this story really hits hard. I couldn't imagine something like that happening to my Scouts, let alone any of my own children. And I don't know the full details of what was going on, but was there any warning? Any emergency plan? Anyplace safe for the Scouts to go in case the worst happened, which it did?

After hearing about this, any of us who volunteer for Scouts or any similar youth organization should think about an emergency plan in case of something like this happening.

My sympathies are with the parents and the leaders responsible for the Scouts. May they seek and find comfort in their time of tragedy and sorrow.
