I've a dozen pocketknives, and a small collection of specific types of cooking/food prep knives, most of which are carbon steel. I'm partial to carbon, and my pocketknife hasn't left my side in ages

No man should ever leave home without a pocket knife.
It used to be a rite of passage for a boy to be gifted (and trusted) with a Scout knife, and generations of men have felt undressed without their pocket blade.
Now it seems to be an indication of potential axe murderer if you carry what is an indispensable tool.
"Pussification" (to quote the admirable Kim du Toit) is rampant.
Resist.
