Several years ago I had a ferocious feline type beast who would disappear. Call his name all day -- nothing. Hit the handle on the can-opener for a couple of seconds and he would rise from the grave no matter where he was...

Siamese can hide in the smallest places. A long ago friend, Cassi, went missing and the frantic search of apartment and surrounding area started. It was cold and I went to get hat and gloves....opened the top drawer of the chest and there she was curled up asleep. She had gone under the chest of drawers and climbed up the space between drawers and the back to her nest.
And I wouldn't want to fuel any fear but I do know a cat who had a tendency to find that hole in a box springs and hide inside.

My Tim (a bluepoint) loves to confound his older "brother" Sam by secreting himself in places where the portly Sam (25# Maine Coon) cannot possibly go. This has backfired from time to time - like the day that Tim darted into the pantry behind my back and then I closed the door before leaving for work. When I got home, realized his plight and released him, he was quite grateful. Ever see a kitty run to his grit box with his back paws crossed?
Did he learn his lesson - heck no. He managed to get himself locked into that specific closet 4 times in the next 2 days! Siamese - beautiful beyond belief, and stubborn surpassing all understanding.
